Sonoma County’s wine community has long championed sustainable practices and invested in their environment. They share a collective understanding about the importance of low-impact, organic and biodynamic agricultural practices as an integral part of the science and art that, when combined, produces outstanding wine. Many of the wineries are charter members of the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance, Fish Friendly Farming, and Sustainability in Farming. Some have achieved the goal of being 100% solar powered or signed on with the industry-wide effort called International Wineries for Climate Action. Caring for the land isn’t enough, Sonoma County wineries also cultivate a vibrant and diverse Sonoma County by elevating lives through charitable events and philanthropic giving. Vintners participating in the Sonoma County Wine Auction (SCWA) have raised millions of dollars to date for their community. The annual benefit has been recognized as one of Wine Spectator’s Top Charity Wine Auctions in the United States.
