The Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines have been updated for the 2023-2024 season. Everyone age 5 and older should receive one of these newly updated vaccines, at least 2 months after their most recent COVID-19 vaccine. Children age 3-4 may need more than one updated dose. Which COVID-19 vaccine does H-E-B currently have?
H-E-B Pharmacies have Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. (Novavax is available at select locations).
What is the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine?
Novavax is a protein-based COVID-19 vaccine and offers an option for those who have not yet received an mRNA vaccine (due to allergy or personal preference). It contains COVID-19 virus proteins in combination with an adjuvant, which boosts the immune system response to vaccine. Protein-based vaccines have been used widely for over 30 years, including those protecting against flu and shingles. The Novavax vaccine is currently offered at select locations, as a 2-dose primary series for ages 12+. No “additional doses” or boosters are authorized.

Can my child receive the COVID-19 vaccine at H-E-B Pharmacy?
Yes. The Pfizer vaccine is available for ages 3-4 (select locations, by appointment only), ages 5-11, and ages 12+. The Moderna vaccine is available for ages 3-5 (select locations, by appointment only), 6-11, and ages 12+.
What is required for a child to receive a COVID-19 vaccine?
Minors need permission and vaccine consent forms to be signed by parents or guardians to receive a vaccine. In case the child gets nervous about receiving a shot, we recommended parents/guardians accompany child to vaccination.
Does H-E-B accept walk ins?
Yes. All COVID-19 vaccines for ages 5+ are available on a walk-in basis. Select locations will offer Pfizer (ages 3-4) and Moderna (ages 3-5) by appointment only.

How can I reschedule an appointment?

If I get the first dose of vaccine at another pharmacy, can I get the second dose at H-E-B?
Yes. Customers can walk-in to any H-E-B RX for their second dose or use the scheduling tool here or call 1-800-811-8620 to set up an appointment.
What should I bring with me when I come in to get my vaccine?
For their first dose, customers should bring a photo ID. For patients getting their second dose, they must bring their photo ID and the shot card that they received when they got their first dose.
Do I need to pay to receive the COVID-19 vaccine?
There will be no cost to anyone to receive the vaccine.
Will H-E-B issue any documentation proving the vaccine was received?
Yes, the CDC is providing immunization cards to all pharmacies and H-E-B will provide a card to every person.
How do I get a replacement immunization card?

Who is eligible to receive these Covid-19 antiviral medications?
Molnupiravir is used to treat mild-to-moderate COVID-19 in adults aged 18 and older with positive Covid-19 test, who are at high risk for progressing to severe COVID-19 including hospitalization or death, and for whom other FDA authorized Covid-19 treatments are not accessible or clinically appropriate (see the FDA fact sheet for Molnupiravir). Paxlovid is used to treat mild-to-moderate COVID-19 in adults and children aged 12 years and older, weighing at least 88 pounds, with positive Covid-19 test, and who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, including hospitalization or death (see the FDA fact sheet for Paxlovid). Both medications are authorized for emergency use by the FDA.

Individuals should consult their healthcare provider if they are pregnant, breastfeeding or have liver and kidney problems.
