It’s a classic scenario when moving day nerves and excitement lead to leaving something behind that you swore you wouldn't forget this semester. But, no matter how much you prepared and how many lists you made, it’s okay because Amazon Prime Student has you covered. From unlimited fast and free delivery to entertainment streaming and so much more, this membership is the best way to make sure you have everything you need on campus now through graduation.
If you’re anything like me, you already have a shopping list of forgotten items that you swore you packed. So leave the guesswork out of it and consider these commonly forgotten items when settling into your dorm. Amazon Prime Student’s fast, free delivery and low prices guarantee that you’ll never be without the essentials.
You’ll be thankful you have a blender when you get tired of spending $7 on a smoothie every day. A mini one will handle all of your blended recipes and can be tucked away neatly when you’re done.
BLENDER
Toaster
Those late-night pizza bagels aren’t going to make themselves.
Coffee Maker
Choose a sleek, mini coffee maker that can fit into any size space, so it can move in with you next year, too. Get ready to be caffeinated to take on any day.
Can
Opener
Almost nothing is as sad as trying to open a can and realizing you don’t have an opener. Save yourself the frustration — and possible kitchen knife-related injuries — by making sure you’re prepared.
Smart Speaker
Make your dorm the official hangout spot with a fun speaker. Bonus points if it’s voice-controlled like the Amazon Echo Dot.
Noise-Canceling Headphones
If you’re a light sleeper (or have a loud roommate who yells on her video calls) noise-canceling headphones will be your new BFF.
Extra Phone Charger
It’s always a good idea to have a backup phone charger just in case yours gets lost or broken. You’ll thank yourself later.
Prime Video
Amazon Prime already offers unlimited streaming of movies and TV series with Prime Video. And now, Prime Student members can enjoy additional perks like select Prime Video Channels (including SHOWTIME, Acorn TV, EPIX. ALLBLCK and more) for just 99 cents each month for up to 12 months.
Trash Can
Sometimes it really is the most basic of items that we forget simply because we are so used to having them. Case in point: a trash can.
Body Pillow
Make your dorm bed extra comfortable by doubling up on pillows. Because college dorm beds typically double as a couch when friends come over to hang out, extra pillows are essential for lounging, doing homework, and for movie night.
Extra Set
of Sheets
Having one or two extra sets of sheets is a total game-changer when you’re too tired to throw in a load of wash.
String Lights
String lights can make anything look straight out of a vision board. They make for the cutest dorm decor and are perfect for getting softer lighting when you’re ready to unwind at the end of the day.
Just because classes are in session doesn’t mean you can’t continue to curate your space. It’s never too late to refresh your room and give it a whole new look. I love adding to my space throughout the semester to keep me comfortable and inspired. Here are some of my favorite dorm refresh tips I’ve learned through my college career.

1
Give your bed a refresh with some cozy new throw blankets and pillows. You can totally change up your color scheme by introducing a new shade, pattern, or both! With your Amazon Prime Student membership, you can get these delivered to campus with fast and free delivery.
2
Add a trendy neon sign to your room and I guarantee you’ll have the cutest dorm room on your floor. Amazon has countless colors and phrases, so you can really tailor it to your style.
3
Nothing makes a space feel more like home than filling it with pictures of friends and family. A Polaroid camera ensures endless fun photo ops that you can tape up on the wall or display in picture frames.
4
Brighten up your room with some faux plants. A touch of greenery will give your room that rustic boho feel and will add a fresh feel.
Something I forgot to purchase when I moved into a new space was a drying rack for my clothes that I do not want to put in the dryer. There are definitely clothes that can shrink when you put them in the dryer so you have to be careful so this is definitely a must for any new space.

I forgot to purchase curtains when I moved into my dorm the past year. Since my room was facing the parking lot it was super bright in my room at night and I couldn’t sleep.

My favorite treat yourself purchase was the extra throw pillow that I got for my room. It adds a little color, and it has a cute quote that makes me happy whenever I see it. It’s something that is comforting.
