HIGH POINT A
Areas with a high potential for hazards, requiring stringent safety protocols for entry and work. This includes where high-pressure or high-temperature operations occur. Hazards: High concentrations of toxic gases or flammable vapors, risks of fire or explosion, and the need for specialized protective equipment and training for workers.
HIGH POINT B
The central location for monitoring and controlling refinery operations and safety systems. It houses the main control room, data processing equipment, and comm systems. Hazards: Exposure to gas leaks during monitoring activities, risks from equipment malfunctions, and the pressure of managing critical situations.
CONTROL CENTER
Area that encompasses the refinery's marine pier where ships are docked for the loading and unloading of raw materials and finished products. It includes berthing areas, mooring equipment, and handling facilities for transferring materials between ships and the refinery. Hazards include spills or leaks of oil and other materials during loading and unloading, potential collisions or grounding of ships during docking or undocking, and the risk of fires or explosions due to flammable cargo.
MARINE PIER WITH LOADING SHIPS
The central area responsible for overseeing and managing the refinery's operational activities. This zone includes offices for management staff, control rooms, and coordination centers. Hazards include exposure to gas leaks during routine monitoring or maintenance activities, risks from managing emergency situations, and potential ergonomic issues for staff.
OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
Areas designated for safety equipment, procedures, and training within the refinery. This includes safety stations, emergency response equipment, and training facilities. Hazards: Improper calibration or maintenance of gas detection equipment, risks from using outdated or malfunctioning safety gear, and insufficient training leading to safety protocol breaches.
INTERNAL SAFETY
Zone designated for the loading and unloading of trucks transporting various materials to and from the refinery. It includes facilities such as loading bays, weighbridges, and staging areas for trucks awaiting service. Risks in this area include spills or leaks from trucks during loading or unloading, exposure to exhaust fumes, potential fire hazards from flammable materials, and the danger of moving vehicles in close proximity to workers.
TRUCKS
This zone includes all areas where pipelines transport crude oil, refined products, and other materials to and from the refinery. It covers pipeline corridors, pumping stations, and maintenance access points. Dangers include pipeline leaks or ruptures, which can lead to significant environmental contamination, fire hazards from escaping gases, and risks associated with excavation damage during maintenance or construction activities.
PIPELINE
The main operational area within the refinery, dedicated to specific processes such as distillation, cracking, or other primary refining activities. It includes processing units, reactors, and storage tanks. Potential hazards include leaks or spills from processing equipment, storage tanks, and pipelines, as well as risks of fire, explosion, and exposure to toxic chemicals.
INTERNAL PLANT A
Areas with restricted entry or exit, such as storage tanks, reactors, and underground vaults, that require specific safety measures and permits for entry. Risks include toxic gas accumulation, oxygen deficiency, difficulty in performing emergency rescues, and limited visibility.

Zone comprises the areas where storage tanks are located within the refinery. These tanks store crude oil, intermediate products, and finished products. The zone includes large storage tanks, secondary containment structures, and associated piping and pumping systems. The Tank Zone poses several hazards, including the risk of spills or leaks from tanks due to structural failure, corrosion, or operational errors. There is also a risk of fire or explosion from flammable materials stored in the tanks. Additionally, the zone may face issues related to vapors escaping from tanks, leading to potential toxic exposure for workers. Proper monitoring and maintenance are essential to mitigate these risks.
