I believe HOOPP is one of the best pensions out there, no doubt about it.
"I was hired at our local hospital back in 1965 right after high school. Because I was hired for full full-time employment, I became a HOOPP member. I worked for 38 years but took an early retirement* due to being diagnosed with degenerative lumbar disc disease.
After speaking with a representative from HOOPP, I was informed that I could commence monthly benefits at the age of 55. So I retired at 55 and thankfully my HOOPP pension kicked in, and even though I truly missed my job and the people, it was such a relief that I had pension payments coming in every month to assist with our life’s expenses. I might add, if I had good health at that time, I would have worked to the age of 65 and probably put more into the pension for those 10 years, but unfortunately, my health ruled my decision. I believe HOOPP is one of the best pensions out there, no doubt about it, and I have shared this with others."
* HOOPP members can retire as early as age 55.

How fortunate am I to be a member of one of the countries top pension plans.
"My history with HOOPP is really three fold. I was an employee of HOOPP for almost seventeen years and for those years I was also a member of the Plan. Thirdly I am now a retired pensioner and have been for seventeen years. How fortunate am I to have not only employed by a great organization, but also to be a member of one of the countries top pension plans and lastly to enjoy the benefits of a generous and secure pension for my retirement years.
While the names and faces might have changed since I retired, its core values have not. It was and still is a great organization providing a secure pension future its members."

"Before I retired, I worked in Hamilton, Sudbury, Toronto, Mississauga and the Niagara Peninsula. Each time my HOOPP pension followed me as I kept changing employers. After 12 years in healthcare, my wife transitioned to the financial sector. She also retired in 2014. My wife and I often joke that the second smartest thing we ever did was work in healthcare to earn such great pensions — the smartest thing of course was to marry each other."

* HOOPP members can retire as early as age 55. Essentially, the closer you retire to age 60 or 30 years of service, whichever happens first, the larger your overall pension will be.

"My HOOPP pension means that after 30 years of service, I can retire at 57 if I want and not worry about finances! Thinking about where I'll be at 57 years old, I could retire while my future grandbabies are still infants. I could spend real quality time with my family, take them on extended vacations to places I can only dream, and have a REAL income in retirement to continue pursuing goals and help my family reach theirs. HOOPP will allow me real choices in retirement! As much as I LOVE my job, my pension gives me the ability to retire when I want, not when I can afford it."

So as a retired HOOPP Member my new titles include Artist, Fisherman, Gardener, Outdoorsman, Pickleball Player, Dog Mom, Beekeeper, Snowbird, and 'the Best Oma Ever'! I have never been so secure and happy with my life as I am since retiring!"

"I started receiving my HOOPP pension five years ago. My pension with HOOPP allows me to live in a warm country during the winter months.
Without the Plan, I may not be able to escape the winter season overseas.
