This unusual combo pokes fun at the US consumers' love for reality TV, parodying Too Hot to Handle and targets younger Gen Z Americans, (ages 18-22) who according to H&R Block's research, found were not the most financially responsible or tax savvy. This mini-series aims to give its contestants a "general lesson in growing up," running them through a series of "responsibility challenges," with the final challenge to file their own taxes. Definitely something one wouldn't suspect from a traditional buttoned up accounting company, which makes this a total head-turner.

Okay, and? Don’t we all? This simple statement she made seems random and irrelevant but actually went viral back in December due to its relatability. Mentions of her on social increased 4x with 40k+ mentions and dozens of top-tier news outlets wrote stories on it.
This was the perfect moment for brands like Bed Bath & Beyond, Bath and Body Works, and Sleep Number to jump in, keep the joke going and capitalize on the relevance and compatibility with their audiences. Moments like these go to show that sometimes less is more, and all we need sometimes is just one simple, relatable statement to make a connection and reach virality.

JANUARY 26 /2024
This week’s trending digital news from our US creative, strategy, and digital team includes the latest reality game show from H&R Block, AR Advancements from CES 2024, and how a simple desire to sleep can become a viral moment.
Bree's Drop:
Advancements in AR technology have swiftly evolved in recent years. At CES 2024, there were numerous demos showcasing AR glasses, including recognizable brands such as Xreal, Sony, Ray-Ban and RayNeo. According to Forbes CEO, Howie Li showed "how the new RayNeo X2 Lite enables AI to do object recognition, depth scanning, 3D navigation, and avatar chat."
If you're a fan of the Marvel Universe, than you've no doubt watched the latest miniseries "Echo." The main character Maya Lopez is a deaf Native American superhero. She encounters some incredible technology in one of the episodes where she is able to communicate with a hearing character through a smart contact lens.
I realize this tech doesn't exist yet but this year's AR demos at CES make me hopeful that these kind of enhancements could be available one day.
