Netflix’s infamous Black Mirror show has finally released new episodes amidst a long-awaited return of the show. In its most recent marketing play to celebrate the viral success of Season 6, Episode 1 titled “Joan is awful,” Netflix launched a new website based on the fictional streaming service within the episode called, “Streamberry”. For those who haven’t seen the episode, I won’t spoil too much - but it’s worth noting the unique digital play Netflix activated off-screen to allow real-life audiences to interact with the fictional technology, now brought to life.

As the app is maturing and preparing to be profitable, it's losing sight of user needs and focusing on shareholder needs. The fascinating part, is with so many active members of the community being impacted, their protests are peeling back the curtain to show the company's rollout and communication. The platform has taken some hits, communities are going NSFW, and ad dollars are being disrupted. Once the dust settles, there's going to be a case study for the ages and we'll see if Reddit can maintain the pulse that kept it going for the last decade.

The issue isn't just the drop in traffic; it's also about the type of content. Some experts are quick to reassure us that these drops are usually just a temporary blip, pointing to historical data from 2014 onward. Yet, the immediate repercussions are undeniable as layoffs become a widespread reality across the news industry.
