Korea has also set itself clean energy targets, including achieving net zero by 2050 and increasing the share of renewables from 8% to 22% by 2030.

Hydrogen will play a significant role in Korea's energy transition, with the government envisaging that by 2036, 7% of power will be generated in this way.  

In a significant change from the previous administration's approach – which had envisaged a phase-out of nuclear power – the current Yoon administration's plan involves an increase of nuclear's share of power generation to 35% by 2036.
