This chart shows the reported total value of arbitration cases administered by the relevant institutions in 2023. Note that institutions do not report uniformly on the value of arbitrations before them – some report the average value of all pending domestic and international cases; others note the value of new cases filed or administered in a particular year – which makes direct comparison trickier. Some observations, nonetheless: Although the AAA-ICDR has the highest number of international cases between these institutions, it has seen relatively smaller case values with a total aggregate of US$5 billion. The LCIA does not report estimates of aggregate value of its cases and therefore has not been considered in this chart. Instead, it interestingly presents the value of its cases each year as a percentage of all cases filed that year. 51% of its cases in 2023 involved disputes valued under US$5 million. By contrast, SIAC reported an average value of US$37 million for new filings in 2023; HKIAC similarly reported an average value of US$60 million. The ICC reported US$53 billion as the aggregate amount in disputes filed in 2023, which is in line with the ICC's average pre-pandemic figures. Note that over 2021 and 2022, pandemic related cases had pushed the aggregate value of dispute before the ICC to as high as US$113 billion.
