Sean Bovell is no stranger to the challenges of starting an e-commerce business. From being unable to find vendors willing to sell to a new business, to being sold illegitimate products that ultimately lead to a shut down of his first business, Bovell faced several hurdles in following his own path in the ecommerce world. Raising money as a Black college dropout was also a major hinderance in the VC community. Learn how how grew a business that is projected to generate over $30 million in gross merchandise.
Mandy went to Harvard Law School and believed that her path was to become a partner crushing deals. During her 12 years as an attorney, she experienced many micro aggressions and saw how she was treated in comparison to many of her peers. She came up with the idea to pair diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts with data and technology to drive real change for the world her children would someday inherit.
After 7 years running a consultancy, Yaw and his co-founder noticed more DTC brands looking for software to help improve their customers' post-purchase experience. In 2018, they built the first prototype of an order-tracking platform to help them control customer complaints whenever delivery problems occurred. It was at that point, Malomo was born. Yaw is one of the many HubSpot for Startups customers growing an e-commerce enablement company at scale.
