Japan’s BEAMS is one of the nation’s foremost retail chains, offering customers a constantly-refreshed selection of seasonal gear and must-have imports. The Winter ‘18 team-up with Clarks Originals made for one of BEAMS’ most compelling releases to date, however, subtly upgrading the classic desert boot with premium, weather-resistant details. The classic crepe sole, while cushy, has always been slippery in rain -- as such, it’s swapped out for a treaded Vibram rubber outsole. Furthermore, both the sandy beige and black iterations boast a tonal GORE-TEX® lining, insulating the wearer against the elements. Finally, the uppers enjoy rich hairy suede, which not only looks great but allows water to slip right off, yielding the perfect marriage of rugged styling and timeless flexibility.

Converse Chuck 70 GORE-TEX Canvas Low Top
By Jason Dike
Converse’s Chuck Taylor ‘70 is noted for improving on the Chuck’s key weakness -- its comfort, or lack thereof. The cushioning system added in a lunarlon insole, something insiders had long been doing to make the shoe more manageable. But now the latest addition is one that makes it suitable for those rainy days.
I was originally a little bemused by the announcement of a GORE-TEX® x Converse collab but on closer look it makes perfect sense. There’s no shortage of footwear cleaning companies selling stain and weather resistant sprays, so why not make sure your sneakers come with one inbuilt? The only downside of this shoe is the rather garish laces, but, thankfully, you can just change those.

visvim Kerchief Down Jacket 2L (Cords)
By Nicolaus Li
I really admire the functional element of GORE-TEX®. In my opinion, the application of the elevated textile is only limited by the imagination of those utilizing it which is why I really love visvim’s Kerchief Down Jacket 2L (Cords) in Light Brown -- it really defies the conventional use of GORE-TEX®. Aside from being waterproof and breathable, the jacket is also filled with premium white goose down for standout warmth retention although not too warm for those cooler spring days. Not to mention the original cowboy print lining, which for me really puts the piece a cut above. I would personally simply pair the corduroy Kerchief with a basic black vintage T-Shirt, classic light wash Levi’s 501s with a red bandana tied to the back belt loop and a pair of white Converse Chuck Taylor 70s.

Supreme x The North Face Expedition Jacket
By Eddie Eng
The utilitarian aspect of GORE-TEX® is really what drives me to the brand/material, because in the end the waterproof/breathability factor is really what I need for those wet spring days. I love how GORE is applicable to almost everything you can find for any brand’s simple or over-the-top aesthetic, and I found the perfect balance with last year’s Supreme x The North Face jacket in Black. The “subtle” lettering on the left collarbone is just the right amount of branding, and the fit is perfect for layering a hoodie underneath. Add the fact that there’re more pockets than you would ever need and a hood that can either be styled up or down without “laying flat” makes this my go-to spring/autumn lightweight.

Apparel, footwear and accessories crafted with GORE-TEX® material are commonly associated with the colder months. Thick ski jackets, rugged snow boots and winter gloves are usually what general consumers think of when they set out to buy products touting the reliable fabric. It’s definitely a no-brainer too since the popular waterproof, breathable membrane has become the top industry standard in terms of cold-weather usability. But that shouldn’t deter discerning shoppers from incorporating wearables made with GORE-TEX® into their warm-weather lineup.
There are tons of products out there constructed with GORE-TEX® that are perfectly suited for the spring and summer seasons. In fact, owning a light raincoat or a pair of sneakers made with the synthetic would be wise when spring showers and summer winds arrive. Needless to say, GORE-TEX® pieces should be in your clothing, footwear and accessories rotation no matter what season it is.
The editors at HYPEBEAST have chosen some GORE-TEX® products for you to consider for these warmer months. They're pieces that should last you for many years given the durability and reliability of the weatherproof material.
