Inspiring individuals everywhere to stop and consider the creative possibilities of the mundane, the Through the Looking Glass series, in partnership with Hypebeast, drives creators and audiences to discover new ways to create.

Bombay Sapphire’s enthusiasm for finding creativity in the every day is reflected in the artist’s inventive project.

Inspired by the Bombay Sapphire glass bottle and all of the possibilities for transforming it into something completely new, the artist created a hat using the glass to formulate an ornate mosaic.
“The whole goal with this has been taking something that is iconic, that we've all seen our whole life, and then being able to transform that into something that we've never seen before,” says Downey, “Hopefully it will inspire people to look at the world around them and see all these possible materials to use to create and stir creativity.”

Falcon Bowse began over ten years ago with Downey using ‘60s/’70s-era textiles or recycled materials to hand-sew custom hats.
In tune with Bombay Sapphire’s sustainable values, he is also dedicated to thoughtful production, releasing in small batches and limited drops. Alongside his reworked, deadstock fabric hats, Downey also creates from more peculiar objects such as orange peels, torn-apart baseballs, disco balls, fried chicken, and more. He challenges his mind to bring the old back to life. “I think once you start playing with different materials in different ways, those materials will inspire you to keep developing those processes into artwork that you didn't even maybe know you could make,” he shares.
Bombay Sapphire stands by the notion that creativity lies all around us if we choose to seek it out.
South Florida-based artist and pro skater Brian Downey, aka Falcon Bowse, created a fashion house focused on building hats from resources most individuals would cast aside. The artist reflects Bombay Sapphire’s creative spirit, possessing an eye for scoping out the potential in ordinary objects and materials.
