Casen Sullivan Reworks a Lounge Chair for Bombay Sapphire’s Through the Looking Glass Series
The artist puts a playful spin on an everyday object, embracing Bombay Sapphire’s creative spirit.
Bombay Sapphire’s Saw This, Made This campaign sees the world as a gallery: a constant source of inspiration from unexpected places.
Inspiring individuals everywhere to stop and consider the creative possibilities of the mundane, the Through the Looking Glass series, in partnership with Hypebeast, drives creators and audiences to discover new ways to create.
Bombay Sapphire’s London Dry Gin is the ideal canvas for cocktail creativity.
Reflectively, the brand partnered with designer and multimedia artist Casen Sullivan to employ the same creative mindset to a unique project. Sullivan is a Boston-based creator who first gained attention by making offbeat versions of the fan-favorite Chuck Taylor silhouette, an ironic commentary on the connection between iconography and consumption. But what really encapsulates Sullivan’s work is his ability to excite audiences through his unorthodox craftsmanship, taking everyday items and forming them into wearable, useful art.
Promoting sustainability and ingenuity are two values that Bombay Sapphire and Sullivan commonly uphold.
The artist often uses regular objects, such as chess sets, keyboards, and astroturf, in his imaginative reworkings, embracing the Saw This, Made This mindset in all of his projects. “My creative process begins with everyday life,” he shares.

For Bombay Sapphire, Sullivan used the sleek glass bottle as inspiration for an exclusive upcycled lounge chair
— once again giving an object that may not be creatively valued a new life. He found the chair in a secondhand marketplace and got to work. “I decided to use the lounge chair as a medium because it’s kind of an ideal necessity, but it has some elevation to it and some elegance,” Sullivan reflects, “Taking it apart and putting it back together has given it a whole new life and hopefully it can be enjoyed for years to come.”
Use the @BombaySapphire #SawThisMadeThis to be a part of the campaign and to have a chance to have personal creations included in the global showcase.
