Scrapbook: Coachella 2019
Scrapbook is HYPEBEAST’s new series that documents the best festivals, events, activations and experiences. Using film photography developed by Manual, we’ll give you an inside look into events from around the globe through the eyes of influential members of the music sphere.
Coachella is one of the premiere festivals in the world, to the point that it’s no longer a mere “music” festival, but a cottage industry unto itself. For two weeks, thousands of people flock to the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California to watch their favorite artists perform in a massive three day, two weekend festival. Arriving at Coachella is like stepping into a new world; music lovers roam freely in their day-glow, half-naked outfits. Just outside of the grounds, the biggest brands and celebrities throw over-the-top events whose opulence can make you rethink some of your life decisions -- if you even manage to get in, that is.
HYPEBEAST had the pleasure of attending Coachella — on and off the grounds at the exclusive day and night events — for the entire weekend 1. Our scrap book will recap what we saw and share some tips from influencers on how to survive next year’s Coachella weekends.
Day 1: Juice WRLD Death Race for Love Experience VIP Reception, Ace Hotel Welcome Reception, Levi's Hosted Welcome Party at the Nest

Beija Marie
“Don’t wear black, I’m saying that as someone who’s wearing all black. I definitely learned my lesson because I’m sweating uncontrollably. I did order portable fan off of Amazon Prime, $10.99 USD and it is [so] convenient. Also stay hydrated, I drank seven beers yesterday, I’m a lightweight. And I really wish I would have drank some H2O because I’m currently suffering the repercussions as of now.”
What are the best Tie dye combinations?
Ev Bravado: “Off-beat colors you really wouldn’t see, like teal, pink, make that your base color and go around that.”
Day 3: Levi’s® Daytime Party, BMW #RoadToCoachella Fan Pitstop Party, adidas - You Had to be There By Irv Benitez, Neon Carnival, MERAJUANA by PIZZASLIME
What's your best advice as far as clothing goes for Coachella?
Luka Sabbat: “Don’t overdress, it’s going to get dirty and hot. A lot of people try to get all these sick ass outfits off and they are sweating and complaining the whole time. We’re here for the music, we’re not here to see your outfits, relax okay.”
Victor Cruz
“Don’t wear uncomfortable shoes. You’re going to be on your feet a lot walking around. Also, don’t wait till the last minute to hit your friends up for your artist passes or credentials or the things you need to finesse through the festival.”
Snoop Dogg
“You got to have a mask, you got to have something that’s going to cover your face because it's going to get dusty. You have dress light because it's going to be hot but at nighttime it's a possibility that it could be cold, so you want to have both outfits. You want to have a night outfit and a day outfit. You want to stay hydrated and have a lot of fruits in your system and vegetables, if you know what I mean. Just vibe, because it's all positivity and all love; everybody is out here just living their life and just enjoying their time for Coachella. It's a great place that brings all kinds of people together so you’ll fit right in no matter who you are or where you’re from.”
Day 4: Desert Sundays - The Do Over, #REVOLVEFestival, 1Oak x Gravity Technologies Coachella Closing Party
What are some rules for Coachella or music festivals in general?
Todd Gurley: “It’s a music festival, there are no rules. You’re supposed to do what you’re not supposed to do that’s why you go to a festival.”
