California Paints' 20th Century Colors of America represent the vibrant tones and subtle shades of the past. Merging historic color with California Paints' color technology, colors from any era are now translated for present day use. 

Historic colors of America were selected from hundreds of samples taken from historic buildings and painted objects ranging from folk carvings to elegant corner cupboards. The palette includes both early earth pigments and the more brilliant colors that became available in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

California Paints is known as the paint industry's historic color authority. Dedicated to providing authentic and documented historic colors from the 1600s to 1985, California Paints offers 279 distinct shades featured in two historic color collections. Each color has been fully verified by the archivists and historians at Historic New England, the oldest historic preservation society in the United States.

Historic Colors of America were selected from hundreds of samples taken from historic buildings and painted objects ranging from folk carvings to elegant corner cupboards.  The palette includes both early earth pigments, like Farmhouse Ochre and Codman Claret associated with farmhouses, and the more brilliant colors that became available in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The colors presented are historically accurate for old house owners or those with new homes.
