Focus: Increase availability and decrease cost
The FRESH initiative aims to increase fruit and vegetable intake to improve the diet quality and nutrition of consumers while also improving livelihoods, empowering women and youth and mitigating negative environmental impacts. Beginning with understanding consumer demand for fruits and vegetables and working back through the food system to improve accessibility of fruits and vegetables and increase year-round supply of a diverse range of safe, affordable, nutrient-dense vegetables, FRESH will address challenges to improving the affordability, availability, accessibility and desirability of fruits and vegetables. This holistic end-to-end approach to tackling a complex set of problems will be informed through close collaboration with a diverse range of partners and engagement with actors along the fruit and vegetable value chain.
