What are these awards all about?
Artificial intelligence is growing at a rapid rate. From basic data entry to high-value IT estate protection, AI is no longer the new kid on the block – it lives at the heart of the business. Beyond that, though, AI has the potential to entirely change the world we live in, and it’s doing so right now. From healthcare and the environment to traffic management and your Netflix recommendations - the robots are already here, and they’re helping you to buy stuff on Amazon. Computing’s AI & Machine Learning Awards recognise the best companies, individuals, and projects in the AI space today. The process covers every corner of the industry: security, ethics, data analysis, innovation and more, as well as showcasing the movers and shakers: the technology heroes and projects that deserve industry-wide praise. #AIMLAwards

Faculty is one of Europe’s leading applied artificial intelligence companies. We build, deploy and operate AI solutions - including our industry-leading decision intelligence software, Frontier - to increase our customers’ performance and help them realise their full potential. We believe that AI should be safe, ethical and beneficial across society. Those principles have shaped our work with more than 250 organisations across the public and private sectors as we help them use AI to understand more deeply, make better decisions and act faster. In 2020, Faculty built the COVID-19 Early Warning System in partnership with the NHS, a first-of-its-kind AI tool that forecasted COVID-19 hospital admissions and required bed capacity three weeks in advance. Daily predictions became available on a national, regional, and hospital level meaning NHS staff could predict and plan for the potential impact of the virus on demand for frontline services. The award-winning tool underpinned the NHS’ COVID-19 response and was key to driving increased efficiencies, lower costs, and supporting life-saving decisions in real-time. Recently, Faculty created a new A&E admissions forecasting tool which is being deployed across over 100 NHS trusts. The new tool aids the better allocation of staff and increased bed capacity based on accurate predictions from external data sources, such as COVID-19 rates and public holidays. Much like our Early Warning System, the tool improves planning and saves lives by cutting waiting lists and bolstering staff efficiency. Faculty has also recently launched Frontier, its groundbreaking decision intelligence technology that helps organisations leverage AI to make better decisions. The software revolutionises business processes and performance by aligning entire organisations from top to bottom and across the different functions. Faculty Frontier is the culmination of years of research and development in the Faculty Research Lab, and hundreds of bespoke builds for customers.
