Explore two elegant, refined aesthetics destined to inspire fabulous excursions while capturing buyers’ imagination.
Dive into the stunning, standout aesthetics of SS26 resortwear at the Destination neighborhood of the September edition of COTERIE New York. The bi-annual fashion industry event is thrilled to welcome the return of Vogue Mexico and Latin America for another exciting, resort-driven curation—this time for SS26. “This season, COTERIE is proudly continuing its partnership with Vogue Mexico and Latin America,” says Purvi Kanji, vice president of COTERIE. “Our collaboration strengthens the international focus of Destination at COTERIE. It’s also a wonderful way to support international brands as they make their debuts in the U.S. market.”
As part of the partnership, COTERIE New York welcomes the expertise of Karla Martínez de Salas, head of editorial content at Vogue Mexico and Latin America. Her insights on market trends are a wonderful contribution to SS26. What’s the most significant retail trend Martínez de Salas sees on the horizon? “I think we are going to continue to see the hotel boutique as a major source of influence and business for a lot of brands,” she says. “Hotels are investing heavily into creating great experiences within hotel stores. What better place to buy a new local brand in the country you are visiting than in the comfort of your own hotel? I also think brands will continue to collaborate and create capsule seasonal collections.”
Read on to discover more insights from Martínez de Salas, and to explore two sophisticated, travel-ready trends for SS26 as sourced from Fashion by Informa’s SS26 Women’s Advanced Contemporary and Women’s Contemporary Buyer’s Guides: Vibrant Escape and Future Classics.
VIBRANT ESCAPE
In Fashion by Informa’s SS26 Women’s Contemporary Buyer’s Guide, Vibrant Escape is described as a more polished approach to all things resort. Picture sophisticated layers, soft patterns, rich colors, and silhouettes designed for ease. “For SS26, silhouettes are shifting towards soft, flowing shapes, and bold, playful designs that embrace both comfort and individuality. Expect to see a mix of flowing fabrics and gentle waves, paired with structured pieces and playful silhouettes,” says Ana Travé, Pearl & Caviar’s distributor for the US and Mexico. The brand also spotlights the season’s inspiring and grounding hues. Travé says to expect “a palette grounded in cool blues/teals, vibrant orange, and warm browns—reminiscent of the campaign’s landscape (rocky, picturesque Crete)—illuminated by prismatic patterns and dynamic monochromes.” The owner of JADE Swim, Brittany Kozerski Freeney, also sees a rich palette for SS26. She anticipates bright hues and says we can expect, “Bold and saturated colors whether its primary colors or deep jewel and earthy tones. We have leaned into this for the SS26 collection in a variety of different fabrications,” she explains. While Luisana Zozzaro, founder and creative director of Zozzaro Swim, approaches the season’s hues from the perspectives of place and design. “Our new collection, La Muralla SS26, is inspired by Ricardo Bofill's iconic architectural work, La Muralla Roja, which fuses the beauty of geometry with the Mediterranean and seeks to capture the essence of Mediterranean architecture, reflecting its vibrant color palette,” she says. “We’re creating pieces that are not only functional and reversible, but also sustainable.”
“The inspiration behind our SS26 collection is about embracing the idea of packing for multiple vacation spots within a single summer and curating a specific outfit of the day (OOTD) for each,” says Emee Olarte-Foussard, Aranaz’s showroom director for North America. “This concept informs our designs, allowing for versatile pieces that can transition seamlessly across different resort destinations and occasions. The focus is on chic, compact packing with an emphasis on adaptable accessories.”
The creative directors and founders of CHIO, Stefania and Maria Cristina di Simone say they anticipate, “Resortwear will feature playful elegance, blending bold primary colors with soft pastels. Collections will incorporate textured florals, natural fabrics, and artisanal details. The overall aesthetic will evoke quiet luxury with a bohemian narrative, perfect for achieving a modern resort chic look.” The aesthetic complements what TKEES co-founder Jesse Burnett sees for the season: “For SS26, we were inspired by the feeling of ‘unrushed beauty.’ Those fleeting moments in summer when time slows down: golden hour walks, salt in the air, a quiet table for two. We designed this collection to feel effortlessly intimate. Our collection is (as always) rooted in minimal silhouettes but enriched with texture, tone, and a soft sensuality. The TKEES woman is living her version of summer, wherever that may be: a coastal escape, a hidden city terrace, or simply barefoot in her own garden.” It’s an approach that reflects the gorgeous versatility of Vibrant Escape.
FUTURE CLASSICS
Described as timeless coastal design meets European elegance in Fashion by Informa’s SS26 Women’s Advanced Contemporary and Contemporary Buyer’s Guides, the resulting aesthetic referred to as Future Classics is nothing short of stunning. Envision elevated, polished, and refined apparel and accessories that feel relaxed too. Martínez de Salas says, “Pieces in terry were a big statement this summer and I think they will continue to be next summer. The bathing suit that turns into an evening look is something that isn't going away either.” Burnett supports her theme of classics, explaining that, “Every pair of sandals we create is designed to be minimal, delicate, and refined. We focus on pure lines, warm tones, and barely there silhouettes that feel like an extension, not an accessory. We believe true luxury is found in simplicity, and this season, the trend is aligning with our philosophy.”
“I think the return of the summer scarf that can be accessorized in so many different ways is something we will continue to see; the handkerchief headband from brands like Lele Sadoughi will remain strong,” explains Martínez de Salas. “I think the resort bag is a big piece that consumers will continue to see—from straw bags, to nylon woven bags, it’s a strong statement. I also love to see mini bags for cell phones and lipsticks for travel and destination travel,” she says.
“Our philosophy marries nature's grace with skilled craftsmanship,” say the di Simone sisters. “This [SS26] collection offers comfortable yet luxurious pieces, each adorned with captivating details. Every design, from lace resembling delicate petals to embellishments sparkling like morning dew, possesses a unique touch. Crafted from natural fabrics like soft cottons and luxurious silk blends, the collection features our signature delicate lacework, vivid floral prints, and shimmering beads or paillettes, all designed to reflect the garden's inherent beauty. Ultimately, this collection is a celebration of nature's timeless beauty and enduring femininity, expressed through elegant and sophisticated garments.”
“I believe the upcoming season will see an exciting shift towards a sophisticated and versatile use of black, especially in resortwear. While I typically embrace vibrant colors for summer, SS26 appears to be the year for black,” says Olarte-Foussard. “We envision it appearing in various forms and accessories, from classic straw bags to more structured pieces like weekenders, water bottle holders, visors, and elegant evening clutches. We'll be reserving our more colorful pieces for SS28.” The diverse range of accessories supports findings from Fashion by Informa’s US 2025 Fashion Consumer Outlook Report which notes a resurgence in functional luxury.
