The Journey Begins
Let’s follow Lauren and Ben during their first milestones in joining their new company.
Lauren and Ryan want to know all their new position entails, want to make an impact as quickly as possible, and are anxious because they did not feel a part of their team in their previous roles. They receive all their equipment a few days prior to joining the organization as well as instructions on how to login to their email account. Before Day 1, both Lauren and Ben login and see a message from Ryan with an onboarding checklist.
Greetings, We are all looking forward to your first day next week! To help you hit the ground running and ensure nothing falls through the cracks, I've attached your personalized onboarding checklist. This checklist serves as your roadmap for the first few weeks and gives you a clear picture of what to expect. What you'll find in your checklist: HR Essentials – All the necessary paperwork, benefits enrollment, and administrative items we'll complete together so you can focus on settling in. Our Company Values – An introduction to the principles that guide our work and culture. These aren't just words on a wall – they're how we make decisions and treat each other every day. Your Team – Basic information about the colleagues you'll be working with most closely, including their roles and a bit about their backgrounds so you can start building those important connections. The checklist is designed to take the guesswork out of your first week while giving you visibility into everything that needs to happen. We'll work through it together at your own pace, and I'll be here to answer any questions that come up. If you have any questions before your start date, don't hesitate to reach out. Ryan receives notification from the Connects app that Lauren and Ben are starting their first day at the first of the new month. This email prompts Ryan to build their onboarding checklist to ensure that they receive all their system logins and have meetings set up with their supervisors.

Ryan helps the new hires get settled in, as their direct supervisor welcomes them to the team and makes introductions.
Week One
The onboarding checklist Ryan sent to new hires before their first day has paid off—onboarding has been remarkably smooth. Lauren and Ben hit the ground running, contributing to their team within the first week. To maintain this momentum, Ryan is following his own checklist to ensure all goals are achieved during their first 90 days.
By the end of 90 days, the new employee should: Understand company culture, values, and mission Be proficient with all required tools and systems Have established relationships with key team members Be actively participating in the recognition platform Be working independently on assigned responsibilities Have clear performance goals and development plan Feel welcomed, valued, and engaged with the organization

30 Days
Checking in to the Connects Platform has already become a part of Ben and Lauren's workday.
Ryan receives an email notification on Day 30 of Lauren and Ben’s journey to encourage managers on the adjacent teams (marketing and customer success) to shout Lauren and Ben out on the Connects platform.
Lauren and Ben’s supervisor sends recognition through Connects letting them know what a great job they are doing. They are elated to know they have team members in different departments who want them to succeed in their new role.
Ryan is thrilled to see the recognition Lauren and Ben are receiving in Connects. He knows this will strengthen their bonds with their peers and with the organization.

60 Days
Lauren and Ben have both just led their first sales calls. They receive a boost of confidence in the form of Connects congratulations from their manager and peers.
Later in the next month, Ryan receives notification to discuss Lauren and Ben’s progress with their immediate supervisor, Gail.
Gail informs Ryan that Lauren and Ben led their first sales calls independently. Ryan is elated by their success and informs the manager to share this win with the team through Connects. In addition, Ryan reaches out to Lauren and Ben for onboarding feedback. He also makes sure they have received their onboarding sales toolkit needed for their upcoming tradeshows.
Lauren and Ben receive an onboarding kit in the mail with several networking items they will need for their upcoming tradeshows. Later that week they also received a request for feedback through the Connects platform. They both explain that they feel welcome to the company and feel that they have a supportive team around them. They also share many thanks for their new onboarding kit.
90 Days
Ryan receives a notification that Lauren and Ben made it to the 3-month mark.
In addition, this notification informs Ryan that Lauren and Ben received points (or a gift card) for making it to the 90 day mark. He reaches out to Lauren and Ben to explain their employee benefits program and how to spend points. Lauren and Ben show excitement, realizing they not only feel welcomed to the organization, but have a vision for long-term success within the organization.

As Lauren and Ben’s onboarding comes to a close, they discuss their long-term role within the organization. Their direct supervisor encourages them to think bigger picture and helps them set goals to push the bar forward in the organization.
