22% of Americans say the economy is the most important problem, representing a slight increase from the 17% measured in July.

This month, the economy stands out as Americans’ most important problem facing the nation (22%), followed by threats to democratic values and norms (13%) and corruption (11%). Independents continue to priorities the economy (22%). Concern among Democrats is split between the economy (23%) and threats to democratic values and norms (21%), while concern among Republicans is split between the economy (21%) and immigration (18%). Concern over war and foreign conflicts registers at 5%, representing a nine-point decline from March, the first wave conducted after the start of the war in Iran.
