Benefits and myths of partnering with a solutions and staffing firm
Kforce: The secret to an easier, quicker job search
Finding work is a full-time job.
The current job market is particularly daunting. Endless scrolling through job boards, rewriting resumes and cover letters to pass AI screening, vetting potential employers and going through multiple rounds of interviews can be disheartening.
Partnering with a reputable solutions and staffing firm can help you cut your job search time, connect with postings not available to others, polish your documents and prepare for interviews.
A good solutions and staffing firm doesn’t charge you for their services or ghost you when challenges arise. And while some firms specialize in short-term placements on small projects, Kforce and others offer long-term or even permanent roles working on large, transformational projects.
As you look for your new role, take time to learn what a good solutions and staffing firm will do for you, and what it won’t ask of you.

Ready for your next opportunity?
Searching for a job can be intimidating. It’s up to you to determine the amount of effort you put into your entire job search, including tailoring your resume for each application and crafting your professional brand on social media. Working with a solutions and staffing firm is a simple way to streamline your search.
“I talk to enough people who are looking for a job to know that most find it to be a scary proposition because there’s no defined roadmap,” Kforce Client Business Partner Brittany Chiarelli said. “When you’re looking at different job postings, you see a variety of titles and job descriptions, and sometimes it just gets confusing. That’s where we come in.”
Myth: You must pay recruiters for their services
If a recruiter asks you for money, don’t work with them. Reputable recruiters are paid by employers trying to fill positions or create a solution. As the job seeker, you will never be asked to pay to find work or give part of your paycheck once you find it.
“If someone is asking you to pay for their service, it’s a red flag and you should look elsewhere,” Kforce Client Executive Raylene Nisbet said.
Benefit: Gain experience and exposure working on major projects
As a solutions company, Kforce consultants regularly work on critical priorities and large tasks. Working on high-value projects is a great way to bolster your resume and prepare you for future opportunities.
“I would say a majority of solutions roles we work on are long-term, highly visible and transformational roles,” Nisbet said. “Consulting positions are often a bridge toward the kinds of experience and exposure that can accelerate your career and reputation.”
Myth: Staffing agencies only hire for short-term jobs
Another prevalent misconception people have is that staffing firms only offer short-term or low-visibility assignments. In truth, it varies between different firms. You need to research the company to see if it primarily offers three-month, six-month, multi-year or permanent roles.
At Kforce, consultants are often retained for more than three months, Chiarelli said, giving them the chance to become part of a project or consulting team.
“We find that longer contracts give consultants a better chance to become part of a client’s project or team, and at Kforce, it's rare that we get short-term, contract-only positions,” Chiarelli said. “You can find multi-year opportunities here, and a lot of times clients want to retain the people who helped them build their system and have the institutional knowledge.”
Benefit: Gain access to multiple employers and jobs
Working as a liaison between you and potential employers, your recruiter will identify interested companies and grant access to unposted job openings. In addition, you’ll have a wider variety of options than if you were searching for a job alone.
“We aren’t just putting your resume in a portal or AI; we’re having face-to-face conversations with the managers who have the ability to hire you,” Nisbet said. “A firm like ours has access to more than 60 years of rich history and relationships throughout the country that you get to build upon.”
Myth: You're just a space filler to a recruiter
A good solutions and staffing firm cares about putting the right people at the right company doing the right job. Recruiters learn what you’re looking for, your career goals and the type of work environment you seek. That includes asking questions like “Do you like the flexibility of contract work?” and “What are you looking for in your next job that you don’t have today?”
“Kforce has two clients: the companies we support and the consultants we place,” Nisbet said. “When we do right by both, both succeed. That's something I believe in my core.
“If we just put somebody in a chair because they kind of match what the client is looking for, the client isn't happy and the candidate isn’t happy. It doesn't work for anybody.”
Benefit: Receive help with scheduling interviews and polishing your resume
Job seekers struggle with writing resumes or sitting for interviews. To assist you, recruiters will coordinate interviews, help you prepare for them and polish your resume with you, if needed.
“Most companies will help you write your resume as part of their services,” Chiarelli said. "When a member of our team meets with a candidate, we see it as part of the job to sit down with them and work on their resume with a critical eye."
Myth: It's all AI. There's no human involvement.
Depending on the solutions and staffing firm, the amount of AI used in reviewing job seekers varies widely. At Kforce, we still rely on human beings to make informed decisions on applications and make personal connections between clients and consultants, Nisbet said. While AI is a useful tool when used properly, that doesn't make it the best tool for everything.
“What makes Kforce different is that the human is still making the decisions,” Nisbet said. “While we do use AI, when you apply to us, we have somebody who will reach out to you.”
Benefit: We're there on the first day
On your first day, Kforce recruiters will meet you on-site to walk you in, set you up for the project and introduce you to the team. The recruiter you work with will check in at least every couple of weeks and provide ongoing training and consultant events quarterly. Recruiters are also in constant communication with your employer to ensure your experience is going smoothly.
“On the client side, we check in regularly to ensure things are going well and to gather feedback which we can share with the consultant,” Chiarelli said.
Myth: Our work ends once you're placed
The relationship with your recruiter doesn’t end when you start your new contract job. Another benefit when working with a staffing agency is that you continue to receive support even after you’re placed at a client site.
“The minute you accept that offer, you’re going to get onboarding emails, and you’re introduced to our consultant care program,” Nisbet said. “We have a portal that really acts as a home base for anything you need related to your placement, whether it be payroll, benefits, additional training or resources to reach out to.”
Kforce recruiters are committed to keeping in touch with you even after you’ve started your new job to ensure that you’re getting everything you need.
“Sometimes people are surprised by the consistent follow-up they experience once they become a consultant and join our Kforce team,” Chiarelli said. “We have a structured process where the recruiter who helped you find that job will be there to support you throughout the assignment.”
