What has been the defining moment in your career? For Client Relationship Manager, Ben Hodges,
it was his decision to return to Kforce after graduating college. Learn about Ben's journey from
an intern to now, his goal to lead future employees and the factors that drive him to continue his career with Kforce.
When did you know your internships would turn into a
full-time offer after graudation?
After my second internship, I was given an offer for a full-time position in the Columbus office where I had been an intern. However, there was some hesitation about whether I should accept the offer. There were a lot of factors I had to consider. My wife and I were dating at the time and knew going into our senior year that she would be moving to Dallas from Ohio after graduation. I loved Kforce, so it would have been easy to stay in Columbus and accept the offer, but I was also feeling compelled to move to Texas to be with my now wife.
What were the driving factors that led you to return to Kforce after graduation?
I took a lot of time throughout my senior year to consider my options and really take a hard look at my goals and priorities for the future. Even after two internships with Kforce, I wasn't sure if this industry was where I really wanted to be for the rest of my career.
I thoroughly looked at numerous opportunities and interviewed with several companies in Dallas, but there was something about Kforce that I was not finding with those other companies.
I loved that during my internships, my team held me to the same standards as an employee. I felt genuinely cared for and supported by my team and leaders. They coached and helped me succeed. So, when I was given the opportunity to transfer my offer to the Dallas office, I felt confident I would be given the resources and support I would need as I embarked on a new challenge and opportunity in a new city.
What is unique
about Kforce's culture?
I felt from the very beginning that Kforce cared about me, and support was always available to me when I needed it. That envrionment is important because it drives me to want to work hard, do well and be a critical piece of this team.
I have not had a ton of exposure—I had a job in college and one other internship with an Electrical Engineering company—so Kforce is all I know. But that is something I think is important, too. The feeling of being at home provides a level of comfort for me, but we also have a culture of people who are a family. It really aligns with my personal values and the way I try to live my life, and I don't think you can truly get that in a lot of other industries or companies.
I was also impressed with Kforce's decision to be on the front end of leaning into an office occasional work model at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. I think a lot of companies are starting to figure this out now, but I am grateful that Kforce listened to the input of our employees and stepped up to owning that transformation without hesitation. It spoke volumes about our culture and the firm's commitment to doing the right thing. It makes associates at every level feel seen, appreciated and cared for.
Are there any career goals you are looking to accomplish?
My biggest career goal is to be a leader within Kforce and help teach others in the future. I want to make an impact not only on the careers of our consultants and clients, but also on every new intern or associate who comes to Kforce looking to build their career. It fits into what attracted me to Kforce in the first place—seeing the ability in people and giving them the care and support they need to bring out the best in them.
What do you love most about working for Kforce?
If you look at my LinkedIn profile, you'll see I am passionate about building relationships. Working for Kforce is so rewarding because I have the opportunity to work with people every day, despite being remote. My team and leaders are spread out among Tampa, New York and Chicago, but building comradery with them has helped me have success in building and maintaining relationships with clients I am supporting across the country.
I am also fortunate to have such a wonderful team. I have had so many consultants follow up with me after they are placed who say they have worked with other agencies or staffing companies before, and no one does it like us. It is really fulfilling for me to hear that feedback because it reaffirms that we are doing things the right way, showing we genuinely care about our people and are making a difference.
