Croke Park, one of the largest sports stadiums in Europe, utlized Energy Manager to minimize their resources
consumption. Their overall objective was to reduce annual electricity consumption while simultaneously seeing the financial benefits.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Since the roll-out of Energy Manager, Croke Park has reduced its annual electricity consumption by 1.25 million kWh. Croke Park’s massive reduction in electricity consumption was achieved by installing a network of approximately 30 electricity sub-meters across the 16- acre stadium complex and then focusing the operation team’s attention on high-usage areas. As part of Croke Park’s energy management improvement process, they focused on their midnight to 6:00 a.m. baseload – so they could identify specific areas of potential wastage. Once they addressed this issue, they automatically reduced the stadium’s overall power consumption. The original reduction in electricity consumption has been maintained, and dayto-day monitoring and management of energy consumption continues to be straightforward. Real-time information regarding energy data and utility consumption is displayed as a web portal and is accessed by the stadium team for analysis. Due to the immediate success of the electricity monitoring program, Croke Park rolled out Phase Two – a move designed to incorporate gas and water consumption into the stadium’s overall energy reduction plan. Again, delivering significant savings.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Energy Manager was leveraged by a major European grocer and clothing retailer to optimize their refrigeration systems and reduce their energy usage. The goal was to enable the retailer to make informed business decisions by providing precise data-driven insights into their energy spending, consumption, and productivity.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Energy Manager is enabling the retailer to experiment with different energy management strategies and see results realtime in order to gauge effectiveness. These learnings were applied across approximately 100 stores as a “best practice.” The target for this specific retailer was to hit a 20% reduction compared to their 2017 energy usage. Approximately 90% of their stores saw up to a 45% reduction in energy consumption, totaling a global reduction of 5GWh in the past 12 months. For this retailer, reducing energy consumption begins with tackling simple things such as tightening up policies for lighting scheduling and BMS work along with providing direction and justification for investments in energy efficient equipment. For example, one store has seen a 45% reduction from an LED lighting and refrigeration upgrade. The Energy Manager system is also enabling the retailer to measure the effectiveness of new technology in reducing energy usage from cold air spillage in their chilled cabinets. Additionally, the team is able to quantify these savings in order to show ROI for capital investment projects.
