Our community showed up once again. Together, we were able to spread awareness about bear conservation and make a grizzly-sized impact to help preserve wildlife and wild places.
In fact, the Kodiak community raised $70,000 from all KIW gear sales for the Vital Ground Foundation, where their mission is to preserve wild places and the ecosystems they support through conserving grizzly bear habitats.
One land, one love—that's what it’s all about. And The Vital Ground Foundation aims to connect one land for wildlife and for us because gosh darn it we have to coexist safely. Our livelihood depends on it.
Bears’ presence in the wild indicates that the ecosystem is viable—that same ecosystem that gives us air, water, and food. Not to mention the peace and thrill nature’s beauty brings us.
We’ve been working with Vital Ground since way back in 2014 when we learned that their mission to protect and restore North America’s grizzly bears for future generations aligned with ours. And from August 14th, we’re donating and matching 100% of Kodiak Keep It Wild (KIW) merch sales to Vital Ground to support the bears, wildlife, and the land.

It’s Brooke Bartleson! You know those kids in grade school that were just wild spirits, living untamed and unapologetically free? Yeah, that's our girl Brooke. Based in Juneau, Alaska, her soul is stolen by all wild things—the mountain, the forests, the rivers, the stars, and the animals. She stands with what Kodiak KIW is all about and hopes her photography inspires the wild side in you.
