Surveillance
We provide ADS-B (terrestrial), ADS-B (space-based), CAS ADS-B Out/In (cockpit), ADS-B Xtend, tactical radar, and we are working to safely integrate unmanned aircraft systems into the NAS.
L3Harris led the creation and deployment of terrestrial ADS-B in the NAS. This capability is revolutionizing air traffic surveillance by providing real-time precision, shared situational awarenes, and advanced applications for pilots and controllers.
L3Harris is also working on concepts that incorporate the future of unmanned operations in support of urban air mobility.
ADS-B Service (Terrestrial)
Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) is a foundational NextGen technology that transforms aircraft surveillance using satellite-based positioning.
ADS-B enables near instantaneous position update (about one second) as opposed to 5–12 seconds from traditional radar. This allows more precise aircraft positioning, driving improved safety and situational awareness.
Terrestrial ADS-B
Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) is a foundational NextGen technology that transforms aircraft surveillance using satellite-based positioning.
ADS-B enables near instantaneous position update (about 1 second) as opposed to 5-12 seconds from traditional radar. This allows more precise aircraft positioning, driving improved safety and situational awareness.
ADS-B enhanced pilot safety through access to Traffic Information Service–Broadcast (TIS-B), which provides altitude, ground track, speed and distance of aircraft flying in radar contact with controllers.
Additionally aircraft are now able to access Flight Information Service–Broadcast (FIS-B), providing weather broadcasts and other advisories directly to the cockpit.
Because ADS-B leverages the Global Positioning System signal, ATC now can
better identify aircraft location which can provide critical insight in search &
rescue scenarios.

ADS-B Service (Space-Based)
As the prime contractor for the terrestrial ADS-B program, L3Harris is excited to explore how Aireon’s space-based
ADS-B will give the FAA an opportunity to investigate new ways of delivering safer skies through an integrated space-based and terrestrial system.

Reference Guide
ADS-B In/Out (Cockpit)
From the touchscreen Lynx solution to our SafeRoute+ applications, operators see the impact ADS-B brings to aerospace. ADS-B In allows airlines to increase routing, landing and take-off efficiencies, improve block time predictability and increase runway throughput.
ADS-B In/Out (Cockpit)
This ADS-B In retrofit solution increases safety and efficiency during all phases of flight using a suite of ADS-B In applications. It provides the pilots a precise forward field of view of surrounding aircraft up to 100 nautical miles using a Cockpit Display of Traffic Information (CDTI) to create an environment of shared traffic situational awareness between pilots and air traffic controllers.
APPLICATIONS:
> CDTI Assisted Visual Separation (CAVS)
CAVS aids flight crews in managing spacing, especially during the final approach and helps reduce go-arounds, keeping flights running on-time. Watch the Video
> In-Trail Procedures (ITP)
ITP provides the flight crew with a vertical profile view of surrounding traffic over 100NM away, saving fuel and providing efficiency. Watch the Video
> Initial Interval Management (I-IM)
I-IM maintains time-based spacing during instrument meteorological conditions allowing consistent low-aircraft Inter-arrival time which enables better block-time predictability. Watch the Video
