Langan performed a geotechnical investigation to evaluate subsurface conditions and potential geologic hazards, developed recommendations for driven and auger cast piles, and provided supplemental recommendations for concrete pads within the generator yard and shipping and receiving areas. We also developed site-specific response spectra to evaluate the base-isolated building’s seismic response to the risk-targeted maximum considered earthquake. Silicon Valley SV1 Data Center is the first facility in Santa Clara to use an earthquake-resistant design featuring a base isolation system.

The design elements for this three-building greenfield 89MW data center campus, totaling 775,000 square feet, on 68 acres included a "raised floor data hall" design concept, which required civil coordination for below-grade routing. Civil challenges included coordination with the city's irrigation district and participation in land use strategy development. Navix participated in the master plan effort and completed full design on phase 1, “Project Riker,” and seamlessly completed final phases nearly a decade later. The project achieved LEED Gold.

Our team provided site selection, master planning, and full design for a 372,000-square-foot, 36MW critical facility with Class A office space on a 22-acre site. Civil elements include staggered building elevations to optimize the development size despite significant topography challenges. Navix advocated to redesign an original stormwater runoff control solution, which featured a large pipe that outflowed very close to a nearby neighborhood. The optimized design featured a sawtooth concrete outflow structure and relocated the runoff to better accommodate the residences. The project targeted LEED certification.

The three-building, 584,000-square-foot data center campus is providing 128MW of power for a cloud infrastructure provider. Civil challenges include shallow groundwater, undocumented fill, and a phased construction schedule to maintain existing infrastructure. The project is uniquely situated close to a municipal airport, which capped the overall height of the buildings and limited crane usage without further FAA coordination. An underground detention system was developed to be expandable as the campus is built out. Navix participated in master planning efforts for both three-building and five-building configurations, which included converting an existing solar power plant into a data center in Phase 1.
