State-of-the-Art GIS for a Regional Sewer Utility
Founded in 2005, the Greater New Haven Water Pollution Control Authority (GNHWPCA) is a regional water pollution control authority responsible for operating and maintaining the wastewater system for four surrounding towns, and faces challenges associated with maintaining a healthy and safe environment. If a sewer system backs up or a flood event causes a network-wide disruption, the communities they serve are at risk. Langan worked closely with GNHWPCA to centralize its GIS data and help develop inspection, analysis, and reporting tools that help plan, mitigate, and reduce risk as well as response times when unexpected events occur. Today the GNHWPCA utilizes ArcGIS to manage 600+ miles of sewer mains.
