La Belle Arnie also hosts themed events with live music on the shaded lawn, so bring a picnic blanket. Wine connoisseurs should also make a reservation at SeaBlue Restaurant and Wine Bar in North Myrtle Beach, an elevated steakhouse renowned for its extensive wine list.
ART AND CULTURE FIX
There’s also plenty of art and culture to experience in Myrtle Beach thanks to its many historical museums, art galleries, musicals and theater options. Visit Horry County Museum to see photography, exhibitions and artifacts that showcase South Carolina’s rich history and Civil War era and to explore L. W. Paul Living History Farm, where you can immerse yourself in early 1900s life on a one-horse family farm. THE ITINERARY
8:00 am: Depart Richmond.
Grab your latte from Lamplighter Coffee Roasters Cafe on S. Addison St, it's the best in Richmond, and drive south on I-95 for 1.45 hours toward Rocky Mount. In Enfield North Carolina, take exit 160 west toward Hollister and Medoc Mountain State Park.
9:45 am: Pit stop to explore and hike Medoc Mountain State Park in Hollister, NC.
Hike the Discovery Loop Trail (1.25 miles) starting the Fishing Creek to explore it and the scenic meadow that opens onto the picnic grounds.
Get back on the 1-95 and head south to Wilson, NC.
11:30 pm: Lunch and tour of the Botanical Gardens in Wilson, NC.
Stroll through the Wilson Botanical Gardens to explore its vast tree collection, turfgrass plots, perennial beds, children's garden and native plant exhibits. After working up a hunger, lunch on delicious Mexican food at La Rancherita Tequila Bar.
Get on the I-74 and drive south for 30 mins, get on the I-40 at Piney Grove and continue for 1 hour to Cape Fear, NC.
1:00 pm: Pit stop to explore the natural wonders in Fayetteville, NC.
Stop to smell the roses at Fayetteville Rose Garden home to 1,000 rose bushes, a gorgeous gazebo and majestic fountains. Then stretch your legs at Cape Fear River Trail, a 5-mile paved path that winds through trees, plants and wildlife while offering spectacular views of the river, marsh and wetlands.
2:30 pm: Depart Fayetteville NC, for Myrtle Beach, SC.
Take the I-95 to US-74 to US-701, a two-hour drive south and you will arrive at Myrtle Beach, SC. Along the way, you will see quaint historical Southern towns, spectacular coastline and lots of lovely scenic nature.
4:30 pm: Arrive in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Check into Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort & Spa, an oceanfront oasis at the north end of Myrtle Beach.
6:00 pm: Time for Dinner.
Head to 42nd Street Bar and Grill for a cozy steak or seafood dinner at this laid-back American-style grill where Southern hospitality and charm are all part of the service.
