The history of Badgers athletics is filled with players, coaches and administrators who have helped generations of fans make memories. Here are some of the people responsible for UW's successes.
HILARY KNIGHT
Knight helped lead the Badgers to a pair of national championships during her time in Madison before developing into one of the world’s best women’s hockey players.
Women’s hockey 2007-12
Dayne won a pair of Rose Bowl MVP awards, and his 7,125 yards rushing during his Badgers career set an NCAA record at the time.

Football coach, 1990 to 2005 Athletic director, 2004 to 2021
BARRY ALVAREZ
Alvarez set a new standard for success as the Badgers football coach by becoming the 10th coach in Big Ten history to win at least 100 games. He went on to lead the UW athletic department as AD, where Badgers teams captured 16 national titles.
Kemp captured three national championships and just missed out on a fourth during his Badgers career.
