Chris Shinabury
business planner
It has been 16 years since Chris admitted that he had a compulsory addiction with gambling. Throughout his recovery process, Chris discovered the many parallels between his struggle and those who suffer from drug or alcohol addictions. He was able to find freedom from his addiction through his faith, but also took further action in his community. Over the past six years, Chris and his wife have been buying homes in their local area, and turning them into Oxford House recovery homes. These are democratically run, self-supporting, and drug-free homes for those working towards recovery from alcohol or drug addiction. Chris currently owns four homes in the Roanoke and Winchester, Virginia areas, which host 45-50 men and women working towards their recovery. He plans to buy more homes, including those in need of renovations to offer good-paying construction jobs to those who have acquired felonies during the course of their addiction. Chris currently serves as a Business Planner and has been with Leidos since 2007.
