Peter Harnett
Environmental Health and Safety Engineer
In 1969, Peter’s family found out that his brother was struggling with addiction. To his family, Tom was smart, kind, and athletic. After a long tenure of successful sobriety, Tom passed due to an overdose in late 1987. He was 38 years old. As the opioid epidemic became more public across the country, Peter wanted to take action to help those who suffer from addiction in his community. He created and currently chairs his own volunteer Opioid Working Group which includes members from federal agencies, law enforcement, and others with special opioid related technical and policy knowledge. In 2020, Peter became a contributing member of the Leidos Opioid Task Force. Peter currently works as an Environmental Health Safety Engineer in Edison, New Jersey, and has been with the company since 2014.
