In January 2020, interns for Terma, a Danish manufacturing company, were given the opportunity to visit the F-35 manufacturing line and mark the beginning of production on the very first Denmark F-35A, known as L-001.

In On July 16, 2020, L-001 components were loaded into the Electronic Mate and Alignment Station (EMAS) in Fort Worth, Texas.

On Sept. 15, 2020, L-001 moved from EMAS to the soft station on the production line.

Once in place in a soft station, this marked the first time L-001’s wheels would touch ground.
Not long after, the first vertical tails wereinstalled on L-001 on Sept. 27, 2020.

A significant milestone was reached on Jan. 13, 2021 as L-001 rolled out of the F-35 factory, a little over a year after production on the aircraft first began. The aircraft was transferred to the Aircraft Final Finishes (AFF) facility where received it’s coatings and aircraft markings.
Flown by Joseph “Hooch” Hutcheson, L-001 took its maiden flight, which lasted approximately 90 minutes in Fort Worth, Texas on Mar. 8, 2021.

001 exited the AFF fully painted donning its new tail flash and rondel on Feb. 24, 2021.

On Mar. 3, 2021, L-001 had its first high power engine test runs.
