Your support will give Ana and Nathan transformative joy.
Meet Ana.
When Ana was 8 years old, she started experiencing debilitating muscle weakness. A series of tests revealed that Ana has a rare autoimmune disorder that attacks her muscles. As Ana grappled with the trauma of losing her mobility, she began to also lose the joy of childhood. When Ana struggled to get out of bed, she looked to art to experience a world outside of her home.
After learning that she would be granted a wish, Ana’s face lit up with pure joy, a spark of renewed hope filling her heart. Ana knew that her heartfelt wish was to be an artist and display her artwork at pediatric hospitals so she can connect with other sick kids. Her wish empowered her to replace feelings of trauma with hope for tomorrow – and to harness her incredible talent to re-engage with the world around her.
“[Make-A-Wish] is going to help me make my wish come true,
and it's been making me more happy.”
Nathan was born with a nervous system disorder that impacts nearly every aspect of his life – his ability to walk, talk, eat and interact with others. At only 11 years old, Nathan has undergone more than 10 brain surgeries and experienced frequent periods of isolation. To help keep his stress levels low Judith, Nathan’s mom, plays his favorite music to calm his anxiety.
When he learned that he would be granted a wish, Nathan’s stoic demeanor brightened with joy. “My wish is to be a singer,” Nathan said without hesitation, hope shining in his eyes. The thought of being a performer fills his heart with strength to keep fighting. “When we talk about Make-A-Wish, you see a light of hope on his face,” Judith said.
Meet Nathan.
“[His wish] hasn’t come true, but it's something he's looking forward to.
You can tell he thinks life is going to be different after that.”
