We raise awareness of the crisis American families face. Our 2024 March of Dimes Report Card spotlighted the high preterm birth rate that earned the US a D+ for the third straight year. We also launched Low Dose, Big Benefits™ to educate providers and moms about low dose aspirin to help reduce the risk of preeclampsia and preterm birth. To ensure they have the latest information, we trained nearly 19,000 maternal and infant healthcare professionals, and our trusted content drew more than 6 million visits to March of Dimes, providing essential guidance to healthcare teams and families.
Research and advocacy - 17 cents
We innovate to uncover new treatments and extend our reach. In 2024, the March of Dimes Prematurity Research Center Ohio Collaborative discovered an enzyme called AKR1C1 that could be targeted to delay or prevent preterm birth by controlling progesterone e ects. We also advocate by raising our voices to champion real change. Thanks to our commitment, more than 115 bills were advocated for, with 50 signed into law. Our Advocacy Network has grown to over 43,000 people who are ready to take action when it's needed most.
Community engagement - 53 cents
We create lasting change for families. March of Dimes rallies partners, including over 600 in our Mom and Baby Action Network, to address the most critical issues facing moms and babies. In 2024, we convened more than 300 partners and 125 birth equity funders for our in-person summit. We also improved how we delivered care by adding two new units to our Mom & Baby Mobile Health Centers®, providing nearly 5,000 medical visits. Our NICU Family Support® program serves over 52,000 families in 70 hospitals, offering family education and staff training.
