How to crack the code to get more women in tech
In the U.S., Mastercard has worked with Grameen America to transition low-income women entrepreneurs to digital banking to help them stay competitive in an increasingly cashless society. Mastercard, in partnership with Citi and Apple, has provided support for Grameen America to digitally disburse loans and transform their back-end systems to scale their operations to reach more than 129,000 low-income women entrepreneurs. During the current crisis, digital payments have enabled Grameen America to continue disbursing same-day loans. Their peer support model has also continued uninterrupted as their members moved weekly meetings from in-person to online.

The digital “Inclusive ID” acts as a secure, formal identity service, without relying on names or photos or storing sensitive personal data. The technology enables the delivery of financial assistance payments through different channels—payment cards, mobile money, bank accounts, and cash-out agents—from anywhere in the world.
