We surveyed over 1,000 executives around the world for our annual C-suite barometer. Globally, 2021 revealed a clear focus on technology and sustainability-related transformation, underpinned by a sense of confidence and resilience. Two qualities that are likely to be tested, once again, this year.

The main ESG focus for UK companies is compliance:
Seventy-two percent of UK executives expect a compliance transformation, 17 points higher than C-suites globally. Three
in four (74%) expect an ESG transformation, compared to 62%
of the global average.
UK businesses have harnessed technology and adapted to remote working. This will be a legacy of the pandemic, more so than in other countries, with 56% of UK businesses saying remote working will
be a long-term change.

UK companies have increased their focus on ESG. Three quarters,
78%, of UK leaders report their focus on ESG increasing as a result
of COVID-19. Seventy-two percent of UK companies have made
a public commitment to having a responsible supply chain, compared to 57% globally. UK companies are also highly focused on their carbon footprint (66% vs. 42% globally), equal opportunities (66% vs.
54% globally), and diversity and inclusion (66% vs. 51% globally).
