Masih U. Farooqui, MD, received his medical degree from Sind/Liaquat Medical College and completed training in internal medicine at the University of Massachusetts and oncology training at Baystate Medical Center and Tufts University. Dr. Farooqui has been in practice for more than 30 years and has expertise in treating lymphoma, lung cancer, chronic leukemia, and breast cancer, among other conditions. He is particularly interested in using novel targeted therapies to improve the survival rate of metastatic breast cancer patients.

Philip T. Glynn, MD, is board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hospice and palliative care, and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital and his fellowship training in medical oncology at UMass Chan–Baystate Medical Center. Throughout his career Dr. Glynn has been involved in medical education both locally and nationally. He was formerly the medical director of oncology at Noble Hospital as well as medical director of Noble VNA and Hospice. In 2012 he became director of medical oncology at Mercy Medical Center and subsequently has taken on the role of co-director of the palliative care and hospice service.
Throughout the years, Dr. Glynn has received numerous awards for providing comprehensive cancer care to patients in this community, including the 2016 Omar T. Pace Award from the American Cancer Society and the BusinessWest 2022 Healthcare Hero award. He is currently focused on maintaining excellence and equity of care for all patients.

Timothy Johnson, MD, attended Williams College on a National Merit Scholarship and graduated with a degree in chemistry. He completed medical school and an internal medicine residency at the University of Connecticut and completed a medical oncology fellowship at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center in Seattle—two of the leading cancer research centers in the country. Dr. Johnson served as a faculty member at the University of Washington for four years following his fellowship. He also published multiple original scientific papers on novel cancer treatments in leading medical journals and his research laid the groundwork for two successful clinical trials.
Dr. Johnson was given two prestigious awards for his excellence in research and patient care, the American Society for Clinical Oncology Young Investigator Award and the National Institute of Health K08 Clinical Scientist Award. Since moving from Seattle to Massachusetts in 2004, he has enjoyed working closely with patients in a general oncology and hematology practice. He believes careful listening to patients is the first step in delivering effective, compassionate care. He has enjoyed raising his family in Western Massachusetts.

Aggie (Agnes) McAuliffe, DO, is one of the medical oncologists at the Sister Caritas Cancer Center. She is triple board-certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology. She completed the honors program at the University of Connecticut as a presidential scholar for graduating as salutatorian of her high school. She went on to complete her medical training at the University of New England in Maine and returned to the University of Connecticut for her internal medicine resident training and her oncology and hematology fellowship training. She sees patients in Springfield for all blood disorders and cancers. She strives to provide compassionate and holistic care for all her patients.

Subramony Subramonia-Iyer, MD, is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist who brings a wealth of experience from across multiple specialties and work settings, including a stint with the World Health Organization and several years in public health administration in England and Wales. He has been in practice at Pioneer Valley Oncology and Hematology for more than a decade and feels privileged to have helped hundreds of patients and families face the challenges of cancer treatment. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and is board-certified in three specialties.
Dr. Subramonia-Iyer's goal is to be present for his patients when they need him the most, assist them in their understanding of their disease, and to make smart decisions that work for them by improving longevity and quality of life.

Anna Paula Rego, PA, is a dedicated physician assistant with a background in acute care and a specialized focus in hematology and oncology. Born and raised in Brazil, Paula has been residing in the United States for the past 23 years. She graduated from Springfield College in 2015, bringing her passion for patient care and extensive medical knowledge to her career.
Paula's journey in medicine began in the fast-paced environments of the ER and urgent care, where she acquired her skills in acute care. In January 2023, she transitioned to hematology and oncology, a field she is deeply passionate about. Paula supports her patients by using medical expertise and compassion to help them through some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
Fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, Paula's multilingual abilities enhance her capacity to connect with a diverse patient population, ensuring they receive the best possible care and understanding. Her expertise and commitment to her patients make her a valued member of the medical community.

Cynthia and her nursing team strive to create an environment of healing, compassion, kindness, respect, and caring in the infusion suite.

Donna Liamis has been dedicated to helping cancer patients for the past 18 years. A lifelong resident of Western Massachusetts, she values the members of our community and is committed to leading her staff in Mercy Oncology Services’ mission to provide the highest standard of care. Donna graduated from St. John’s College of Business and lends her many skills to the management of the oncology office at the Sister Caritas Cancer Center. Her organizational ability and caring and positive attitude create the foundation necessary to ensure all patients and families have best possible experience at each visit.

Nada M. Kawar, MD, FACOG, specializes in the care of women’s cancers, treating the full range of gynecologic malignancies, including cancers of the breast, cervix, endometrium/uterus, fallopian tube, ovary, vagina, and vulva. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She received certification in breast disease and breast surgery from the Society of Gynecologic Oncology. She is certified in the fundamentals of laparoscopic surgery (FLS) from the American College of Surgeons and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
She completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology and breast surgery at Brown University/Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island in Providence, Rhode Island. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at University of California San Francisco Medical Center in San Francisco, California. She received her medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Kawar is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, where she serves as a member of the Wellness Task Force. She most recently served as co-director of gynecology at Baystate Medical Center, and as assistant professor in the departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical School-Baystate. She has extensive experience in clinical research as a member of the Gynecologic Oncology Group/ NRG Oncology.
Dr. Kawar’s clinical areas of interest include minimally invasive procedures, including da Vinci® robotic surgery, for patients with gynecologic malignancies and other complex benign gynecologic conditions, radical procedures for treatment of gynecologic malignancies, risk-reducing surgery in patients with familial susceptibility for breast, ovarian and endometrial cancer, and oncoplastic breast surgery.

Laki Rousou, MD, is a board-certified thoracic surgeon. Raised in the Pioneer Valley, Dr. Rousou is the chief of thoracic surgery, director of robotic surgery, and medical director of the Lung Cancer Screening Program. He has been a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons since 2010 and the Massachusetts Medical Society since 2014. In 2018, Dr. Rousou was recognized as a LUNG FORCE Hero by the American Lung Association.
Dr. Rousou completed his general surgery training at NYU Medical Center in New York, NY, and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He specializes in minimally invasive robotic thoracic surgery and offers a continuum of non-cardiac thoracic surgical services. Since 2016, Dr. Rousou has been listed among the top five surgeons in New England for completion of robotic thoracic surgery cases. He strives to let patients know that cutting-edge care can be delivered close to home at Mercy Medical Center.

Filipe Sobral, MD, FACS, is board-certified in general surgery. Dr. Sobral earned his medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he also completed his internship in general surgery. He completed his residency program in general surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and gained additional clinical experience while on international rotation in South India.
Before joining Mercy Oncology Services, Dr. Sobral served as a general surgeon with Mount Sinai Doctors of Long Island in Huntington, New York. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
Jennifer Hyder, MD

Jennifer Hyder, MD, is a board-certified radiation oncologist who has been working in the Pioneer Valley for over 15 years. In 2023, Dr. Hyder became the medical director of radiation oncology at the Sister Caritas Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center. She completed an internal medicine internship at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester, MA and then her residency in radiation oncology at Drexel University College of Medicine / Hahnemann University Hospital. In addition to external beam radiation delivered with 3D conformal and IMRT techniques, Dr. Hyder delivers image-guided stereotactic radiation to areas such as the brain and lungs. Dr. Hyder and her staff are a team that strives to provide not only technically accurate treatments but personalized and compassionate care at the Sister Caritas Cancer Center.

John Hunt, MD, grew up in North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He chose to pursue a career in pathology and completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. During that time, his specialized training included the areas of gastrointestinal pathology under the tutelage of Drs. Harvey Goldman and Donald Antonioli, as well as breast pathology with Drs. Laura Collins, James Connolly, and Stuart Schnitt. He pursued additional fellowship training in hematopathology at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT, where he developed a particular interest in flow cytometry. After completion of his fellowship, Dr. Hunt took a position at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where he practiced a wide range of surgical pathology and hematopathology procedures and served as medical director of flow cytometry. He relocated to his alma mater as an associate professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and in the Department of Pathology at UNC Hospitals, where he became director of immunohistochemistry and associate director of surgical pathology. He returned to Baystate Medical Center and took on the roles of director of immunohistochemistry and medical director of surgical pathology. Dr. Hunt is now pleased to bring his expertise to the pathology team at Mercy Oncology Services.

Allison Wasserman, MD, is a board-certified pathologist, and focuses on hematopathology. She is the chair of pathology at Saint Francis Hospital, and medical director of the flow cytometry lab for Mercy Oncology Services. Dr. Wasserman completed her medical training, including fellowships in surgical pathology and hematopathology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, TN. Upon completion of her training, she returned to Massachusetts, where she grew up and still feels most at home.

He has more than 40 years of experience, mostly in neoplastic surgical pathology and cytopathology.

Dr. Michael Hall is board certified as a radiation oncologist by the American Board of Radiology and is a physician at Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia - Covington. He received his medical degree from Florida State University College of Medicine and completed his medical internship and residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Hall specializes in brain, spinal cord, lung, breast, prostate, skin, and gynecological tumors, with a special interest in stereotactic radiotherapy.
Dr. Hall has six years of experience in radiation oncology and previously served as the Director of Oncology for The Medical Group of South Florida. He has also practiced radiation oncology at Mercy Hospital in Miami, FL, and American Professional Associates in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Hall was a clinical assistant professor at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where he developed a radiation oncology medical student rotation program with Mercy Hospital.
Dr. Hall strives to be a leader and active participant in the development of his medical community. While practicing at Mercy Hospital, Dr. Hall served as the chairman of the Cancer Committee and Department of Medicine, was a clinical reviewer for the lung cancer screening program, and was a member of the Radiation Safety Committee. He is an active member of the Radiological Society of North America, American Brachytherapy Society, American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, American College of Radiation Oncology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
In his free time, Dr. Hall enjoys playing golf, hiking, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Tracy L. McElveen, MD is board certified as a Radiation Oncologist by the American Board of Radiology. Her expertise includes Stereotactic Radiosurgery, Brachytherapy, and Image Guided Radiation. Dr. McElveen believes in providing quality, personalized cancer care in a community setting, and demonstrates that commitment daily in her patient care activities. She served as the Medical Director of the Integrative Oncology Program for Vantage Oncology nationally, is a member of the Medical Executive Committee and Oncology Committee for Eastside hospital, and is on the Board of Governors for hospital administration.
She graduated summa cum laude from Stetson University, and received her medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. After completing her residency at Thomas Jefferson University where she served as Chief Resident, Dr McElveen relocated to Atlanta. Prior to joining Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia, she was Department Chairman of Radiation Oncology at Northside Hospital.
In 2008, Dr. McElveen was named the American Cancer Society Physician Liaison and served for the Commission on Cancer. Dr McElveen appeared on cover of “MD News” for her knowledge and development of a Stereotactic Radiosurgery Program.
Specializing in women’s malignancies, Dr. McElveen was a partial breast irradiation pioneer and endorsed by MammoSite® Targeted Radiation Therapy. After graduating summa cum laude from Stetson University, Dr. McElveen was given the Etter McTeer Turner Award, for achieving the highest standard of excellence in academic performance, leadership, community service, personal character and integrity.
Dr. McElveen is an active member of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology, the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the Society of Integrative Oncology. She has spoken nationally and internationally in the field of Oncology and published in several peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Mark Merlin, a Louisiana native, was practicing at a large radiation and medical oncology group in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina uprooted his family to Atlanta. Dr. Merlin reached out to Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia (RCOG) because of its strong reputation in the treatment of cancer, and he has been practicing at RCOG’s Decatur location ever since.
Following in the footsteps of his father, Dr. Merlin elected to become a physician. He attended medical school at Louisiana State University and completed his residency at the Medical College of Georgia. “I decided to pursue radiation oncology because I had an interest in caring for patients with cancer and with the cutting-edge technology used in treatment,” Dr. Merlin said.
Dr. Merlin serves on several national committees for U.S. Oncology including the Radiation Oncology Leadership Council, the Clinical Advisory Council Radiation Subcommittee, the Quality Assurance & Accreditation Readiness Committee, and the Standardization Steering Committee. Dr. Merlin also functions as the Compliance liaison for his physician group (RCOG).
When not working at RCOG, Dr. Merlin enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, reading short stories, and watching stand-up comedy. He values being outdoors hiking, kayaking, playing tennis, and attending music festivals. He also volunteers in the community at the Atlanta Zoo and with the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival.
Ratna Sajja, MD

Ratna Sajja, MD is board certified as a Radiation Oncologist by the American Board of Radiology. Dr. Sajja has strong professional experience in treating a wide variety of adult tumors with the latest techniques in radiation oncology today. Dr. Sajja believes in providing quality, personalized cancer care in a community setting, and demonstrates that commitment daily in her patient care activities.
Dr. Sajja received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. She then completed her residency training at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where Dr. Sajja trained with many of the current leaders in the field of radiation oncology, participated in several clinical research projects, and served as Chief Resident. She received her board certification in Radiation Oncology in 2006. Dr. Sajja also achieved honors and distinctions throughout her prior education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Along with several publications, Dr. Ratna Sajja is credited with a number of notable poster presentations concentrating on IMRT and Gamma-Knife radiosurgery for intracranial meningiomas for well-respected organizations and conferences, such as the Society of Neuro-Oncology and American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.
After completing her residency training, Dr. Sajja relocated to the north Dallas, Texas area. She has been a respected radiation oncologist in private practice within that community since 2006, and is well-acquainted with the newest technologies in the field, particularly image-guided radiotherapy for prostate cancer and brachytherapy for partial breast irradiation (Mammosite, Savi). Dr. Sajja is excited to bring her wealth of knowledge to Rockdale County and looks forward to also providing stereotactic body radiotherapy for unresectable tumors. With members of her own family who have battled cancer, Dr. Sajja is attuned to the emotional needs of the patient. She strives to involve her patients in all the decision-making aspects of treatment and provides care in a thoughtful and compassionate environment.

Philip Shrake, MD is board certified as a Radiation Oncologist by the American Board of Radiology. Dr. Shrake has spent the last 18 years as a radiation oncologist at RCOG’s Gwinnett County Radiation Oncology Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He has been practicing radiation oncology for more than 20 years. Dr. Shrake believes in providing quality, personalized cancer care in a community setting, and demonstrates that commitment daily in his patient care activities.
Dr. Shrake graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1989, before spending time on a medical mission at Raleigh Fitkin Memorial Hospital in Swaziland. Afterwards, he returned to the U.S. and completed his residency at the University of Cincinnati.
Dr. Shrake worked in private practice in Kentucky and Texas before moving to Georgia and joining RCOG. “Gwinnett County Radiation Oncology Center provides patients in this area with access to the best cancer care available,” said Dr. Shrake. “I am delighted to be a member of a team fully committed to excellence in cancer treatment.”
Dr. Shrake is originally from Indiana. In his free time he enjoys tennis, golf and running.

Amy Lynn, MD, is a board-certified anatomic pathologist and cytopathologist with over 25 years of experience. After finishing medical school at the Inteflex, Integrated Premedical-Medical Program, at the University of Michigan, she completed her anatomic pathology residency and cytopathology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. She went on to practice at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, and at Toledo Hospital in Toledo, OH. She joined the staff at Mercy Medical Center in 2021. Dr. Lynn’s main interests include breast pathology, gynecologic pathology, dermatopathology, and quality management.
