6. Talent
We were aggressive about recruiting software talent. We opened new software development and design centers, some of them closer to hubs of talent. For example, we opened up a dedicated software development office on Georgia Tech’s campus, and that became a great way to recruit. We also take pride in how we grow and develop our people to reduce churn. We have structured trainings and rotational assignments so people can grow, and every employee has a variable portion of their pay tied to the performance of the company.”

We tried leveraging elements from our talent recruiting process targeted at hardware experts to recruit software talent, but it wasn’t successful. We realized we needed to develop different pay packages and benefits for this group. ‘One size fits all’ just doesn’t work.”
