Lianna Genovese
Recently received that YWCA Hamilton Women of Distinction Young Trailblazer award. She is also the CEO and founder of ImaginAble Solutions and the inventor of an assistive device called Guided Hands. On top of all this, she devotes some of her time to being a mentor and industry partner for McMaster co-op programs.
By default when you upload a video to Ceros, the player controls will appear for the user, requiring them to interact with the video in order to play. However, in addition to this default video behavior, you can also set your videos to automatically play on load — which requires no input from the user.
To access the autoplay settings, click on a video and you’ll see your video settings populate in the Design tab.
Create an engaging and interactive tile section using object states.

Remove the background of images by simply right clicking on an image and selecting “Remove Background.” In a matter of seconds, the foreground will be detected, and everything else behind it will disappear automatically, leaving behind an image with a completely transparent background.
Each hotspot has the "on hover -change target state" interaction applied. This interaction triggers the image to change from its default state to its hover state.
Object states give you the ability to assign various “states” to an element on the canvas. Each image has two states where the images position and size changes in each state.
Progress to be proud of!

Yang Xu
She just came back from an 8-month internship at Tesla in Palo Alto, California where she worked as a Silicon Engineering Intern. Her team was responsible for the system bring up and validation of Tesla’s custom designed SoCs that go into the new autopilot computer. She met many incredible engineers, and even got a glimpse of Elon Musk, during her internship and learned a lot about silicon architecture and different serial and parallel interfaces like DDR. She got to work on a range of projects from hardware debug to firmware. On top of that she made lifelong friends that are from different parts of the world!
Level III, Chemical and Biomedical Engineering on Industrial Co-op
Melina Ashali
She’s one of the co-VPs of Outreach on this year's Women in Engineering Society, and she really enjoys talking to younger students about STEM! She's also been involved with McMaster's Baja SAE team, Sumobots, and the Eng Phys Ambassador Program. In her free time, she’s been learning how to crochet and experimenting with different recipes. She also reads a bit of everything and actually used to work at Indigo in high school!

A range of perspectives leads to better insights and innovation and McMaster Engineering is striving toward making our community more diverse and inclusive.
This website is a space dedicated to celebrating all areas of inclusive excellence at the Faculty. It celebrates the diversity of our Fireball Family community and showcases our EDI initiatives.
Becoming the first woman Dean of Engineering at McMaster in 2022, the same year we reached an equity milestone of 40% of our incoming undergraduate class being women was a proud moment for me.
Our advances in EDI continued as we established programming and scholarship for equity deserving groups through the Indigenous and Black Engineering/Technology PhD Fellowship, the National Society of Black Engineers Entrance Award and the William Barry Hill Scholarship.
McMaster’s inaugural Day of Giving on May 11 raised $90K in philanthropic dollars donated by over 30 alumni towards the National Society of Black Engineers(NSBE) Scholarship fund. This one-day, university-wide fundraising campaign focused on supporting Black student excellence, Indigenous priorities and equity-deserving communities at McMaster.
I am also pleased to share that as part of the Black Excellence Cohort hiring initiative, we've welcomed seven Black Scholars from 2021-2023.
The creation of an Indigenous Working Group made up of staff, faculty, and students is also a first step we took this year on the path to creating strong relationships and impact throughout our community.
Together, we are creating meaningful change and representation across all areas of our Faculty and inspiring a more inclusive and equitable generation of future engineering leaders. As always, while there are certainly a number of initiatives worth celebrating from the past year, we continue to strive to do better. I look forward to continuing to highlight new initiatives and stories through this website.
