Vibrant Las Vegas
ITINERARY
Prepare to be amazed on your next visit to Las Vegas, a city of superlatives and splendor. Whether you’re eating, drinking, playing, or being entertained, expect plenty of high-energy, high-tech experiences that magically blur the line between reality and fantasy as only Vegas can.
Let your senses abandon their defenses at Dopeameme inside AREA15. It’s a walk through a series of environments (like dance parties and physical challenges) designed to raise levels of dopamine, the pleasure hormone. While you’re in AREA15, experiment with virtual and augmented reality games like dodgeball at The Lab.
If auto racing is more your speed, the green flag is waving at Grand Prix Plaza, the world’s largest immersive Formula 1 attraction. The complex includes F1 X, a high-octane interactive museum; F1 DRIVE, where guests steer state-of-the-art racing karts; and F1 HUB, home to racing simulators, a retail store, and a restaurant/lounge. The F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix takes place November 20–22 on a course that covers parts of the legendary Strip.
Afternoon
For drinks and dinner, consider Las Vegas’s 2025 James Beard Award finalists, including two Best Chef Southwest nominees: Sarah Thompson at Casa Playa (coastal Mexican cuisine) and Eleazar Villanueva at Restaurant de Joël Robuchon (French fare). Cristie Norman earned a nod for the beverage program at Delilah, a swanky supper club inspired by 1950s Vegas showrooms, complete with live bands playing well into the night.
Evening
After dark, Vegas famously comes alive with spectacular shows. Catch the gaudy, bawdy, and naughty variety of Miss Behave’s Mavericks, a mélange blending acrobatics, burlesque, and comedy. Or witness a show — inside and outside — at the Sphere, a modern-day Globe Theatre. The world’s largest spherical structure boasts an enormous wraparound internal screen for concerts, and an ever-changing LED exterior display that’s visible all over the city. Another spectacle is the very Vegas pregame show at T-Mobile Arena, home of the NHL’s Golden Knights. The over-the-top theatrics whip the crowd into a frenzy, putting opponents on thin ice. Exhibition games start in late September, with the puck dropping on the regular season in October. Before or after a show, dinner in Las Vegas can be a memorable performance in itself, especially at places like iconically Italian Carbone, Greek seafood sorcerer Estiatorio Milos, and Japanese jewel Wakuda.
Evening
Know more about wedge sandals than sand wedges? You’ll still have fun at Atomic Golf, a four-floor complex that flash-forwards the ancient game from the links to the era of hyperlinks. Think golf-ball cannons, radar-tracked targets, and the Cosmic Lounge with a pulsing LED floorscape. And you can eat lunch while you play.
Afternoon
At energetic PublicUs, brunch like the locals — you’re bound to meet some at the communal tables. So much good stuff starts with a “b”: brekkie sandwiches, Belgian waffles, Benedicts, and bento boxes. It’s in old downtown Las Vegas, not far from the Fremont Street Experience, a multi-block pedestrian-only entertainment hub that’s open 24/7 and dazzles even in daytime. The SlotZilla Zipline opens at noon if you want to fly 11 stories above the crowds (or watch others be air devils).
morning
Before you depart Vegas by wings or wheels, buy something special to take home. The Shops at Crystals gathers 50 of the world’s finest luxury brands under one roof — 19 separate roofs actually, all overlapping each other in a stunning architectural statement. Fashion Show Las Vegas is a couture-culture mall (more than 250 retailers) that attracts celebs and trend-forward locals. The Cloud, a giant steel oval that hovers over the entrance, weighs 1.1 million pounds. The outdoor retail village Las Vegas North Premium Outlets puts a premium on discounted designer goods. Trade markdowns for touchdowns at Allegiant Stadium, the futuristic venue where the NFL’s Raiders play home games on a retractable grass field under a translucent roof. If the Men in Black are in town, try to score a hot ticket. If not, book a behind-the-scenes tour.
afternoon
An epic brunch is a fitting finale for this desert sojourn. The Italian offerings at LAVO incorporate local farmers market flavors. At Latin-fusion restaurant Chica, start with Buñuelos and progress to a Paisa Bowl or Lobster Eggs Benedict. Make your own French toast with a glass of champagne, wine, or beer at the bistro Mon Ami Gabi, where everything is prepared a la Française. From a Strip-side patio table, watch the Fountains of Bellagio—and the parade of people.

Step into a perfectly themed 1880s Ozarks mine town at Branson’s award-winning amusement park, Silver Dollar City. Although the park is known for its record-breaking thrill rides, there’s something for everyone to enjoy — especially the young at heart. All tickets include a breathtaking 60-minute exploration of Marvel Cave, one of the Midwest’s greatest wonders. After, wander through the park to see 100 craftspeople demonstrate specialized skills like glassblowing, wood carving and soapmaking. Of course, their creations are available for purchase at the park’s 60 shops. Pick up some brittle and fudge at Brown’s Candy Factory or even new furniture at Heartland Home Furnishings. There’s no shortage of frontier-style entertainment, too. Join the Silver Dollar Saloon cast for Frontier Follies, a show full of fun, laughs, dancing, music, and magic. Or, dip your toes into the music of the 1880s with the Homestead Pickers.

An Orlando vacation doesn’t have to be ride after ride. Instead, spend your time sampling meals, snacks, and drinks from around the world at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT. Take a stroll around World Showcase Lagoon as you tour 11 pavilions, each themed to a different country. Enjoy bratwurst, schnitzel, and beer at the Biergarten Restaurant in Germany or try teriyaki, sushi, sake, and plum wine at Katsura Grill in Japan. While traveling the world, be sure to check out the live performances and shows in each pavilion, including a British rock band and traditional Japanese drumming. For a truly out-of-this-world dining experience, visit the Space 220 Restaurant. Enjoy Blue Moon Cauliflower, Galactic Miso Salmon, or a Cosmic Cheesecake as you peer out the windows to view Earth from 220 miles away. Be sure to end your night with innovative cocktails and scenic views at the brand-new, 21+ GEO-82 lounge.

Amusement parks are great for families, but sometimes, the thrills are intended for adults. The Free Fall Thrill Park in Myrtle Beach is sure to quench any grown-up adrenaline junkie’s thirst. Experience 5 Gs as you’re launched 300 feet in the air at speeds over 120 mph on the park’s premiere attraction: The Sling Shot. Or, get lifted 170 feet in the air and overlook the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Atlantic Ocean for a brief moment before free-falling to the ground at over 55 mph on The Sky Fall. For those wanting a gorgeous view of the beach from up high — without the churning stomach — take a ride on the 200 foot tall observation SkyWheel. Check it out during the day, or at night for its colorful illumination. If heights aren’t your thing at all, there’s still plenty to do on the ground in the Mini Golf Capital of the World.

In San Antonio, Six Flags Fiesta Texas amplifies amusement park fun by combining high-octane thrills and live entertainment. The calendar is robust all year, but fall ushers in international flair and Halloween scares. Visit between September 6 and October 26, to witness the park’s Oktoberfest extravaganza in full swing. Enjoy authentic German cuisine, craft beers, and exciting performances. If you prefer scares to steins, Fright Fest is a ghoulishly good time. Each evening from September 6 to November 2, the park transforms into a haunting landscape filled with hair-raising attractions, mazes, and scare zones. For an extra adrenaline rush, take a spin on your favorite rides by moonlight.

Immerse yourself in classic Hollywood nostalgia with a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood. While there, embark on the 60-minute World-Famous Studio Tour to surround yourself with the art of cinema. See the sets of your favorite films like NOPE, War of the Worlds, Back to the Future, and more. After visiting the back lot, head over to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to try Butterbeer, just like in the films. For the real Potterheads, stop by Ollivanders to pick out your own wand or a replica from the movies. Spend 20 minutes watching the explosive effects, dramatic stunts, and firefights in Waterworld — the park’s No. 1-rated show based on the 1995 film starring Kevin Costner. After a long day of fun in the park, head outside and explore Universal CityWalk — the resort’s bustling commercial district. Enjoy exquisite dining like The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen, watch a show at the state-of-the-art 5 Towers Stage, or purchase a piece of Hollywood memorabilia at Celebrity Authentics.

The resort's sophisticated lounges and exclusive golden-sand beaches overlooking unobstructed ocean vistas are postcard-pretty. Find your perfect spot under the sun, whether it's in a private cabana, a relaxing hammock, or an infinity pool, then relax and watch the waves gently roll in. When you're ready for a bite or a refreshing drink, enjoy freshly made sushi right on the beach or visit one of the inviting bars.
Private Beaches and Beach Lounges
There is so much to see and do on property, you may find little reason to leave it. During the day, play pickleball, paintball, tennis, mini golf, and archery while children play at the kids club. At night, follow the impressive replica Umbrella Street to the open-air Colosseum for complimentary live music and dance performances. (The Michael Jackson Tribute show is a fan favorite.) There’s even a sports bar where you can try your luck at casino games and lounge with a freshly rolled cigar. If you do wish to explore beyond the resort, the booking office can arrange a variety of off-property excursions for an additional fee. These include dune buggy adventures, catamaran tours, horseback riding along the beach, and guided tours of Puerto Plata.

Peace and pampering await you at Yin Yang Spa, which has two locations at the resort. You’ll need to pay for treatments like pedicures, hot stone massages, and detoxifying body masks, but the spa space is at your disposal and includes access to a steam room, hot tub, gym, and adults-only pool with an organic smoothie and snack bar.
Rejuvenating Spa Experiences

Lifestyle Holidays Puerto Plata
All-Inclusive Property Spotlight:
CRUISE CONTROL: The area is home to two major ports, Taino Bay Puerto Plata Cruise Port and Amber Cove. The cruise crowds arrive almost daily, docking first thing in the morning and departing by mid-afternoon. Keep this in mind when booking tours and excursions.
AIRPORTS: Gregorio Luperón International Airport is just 15 minutes from the city center. Cibao International Airport in Santiago is about a 1.5 hour drive from Puerto Plata. We recommend using a car service or shuttle if flying into this airport versus renting a car, as traffic is heavy and unpredictable for even the most experienced drivers.
TRAVEL DOCUMENTS: You’ll need a valid passport, plus an e-ticket to enter and exit the Dominican Republic.
LANGUAGE: Spanish is the official language, though English is widely spoken.
CURRENCY: Plan to use cash outside of the resort. The Dominican peso is the local currency, but U.S. dollars are widely accepted; bring small bills, as you’ll likely receive change in pesos.
LOCATION: Northern coast

The island’s diverse ecosystem is on full display at Isabel de Torres National Park, located southwest of the city. The Teleférico Puerto Plata, the longest cable car in the Caribbean, is currently under construction, so to reach the mountaintop you’ll need to travel by car. The ascent takes about 30 minutes, and the aerial views of the Atlantic coastline from the top of Isabel de Torres, which rises 2,600 feet above sea level, are remarkable. See the Christ the Redeemer statue and take a few minutes to meander through the adjacent botanical garden, where cacao and coffee trees grow wild, before descending the mountain.

Zip down natural waterslides, plunge into turquoise pools, and hike through the jungle at the Damajagua Waterfalls, one of the province’s star attractions. (There are 27 waterfalls in all, though you’ll only visit a handful of them during a guided tour.) Upon entrance to the park, a guide will take you on a trek through forested trails and flowing streams until you reach the lower falls. These cascades spill into a series of pools that visitors can take a refreshing dip in. You’ll be outfitted with a safety helmet and life vest before the journey, but wear athletic clothing or a bathing suit, plus closed-toed shoes you’re comfortable getting wet and muddy.

Puerto Plata boasts the largest and best-preserved collection of 19th-century Victorian architecture in the Caribbean. Independence Square is anchored by St. Philip the Apostle Cathedral and a gleaming two-story Victorian gazebo. Ascend the spiral staircase for panoramic views of the square, filled with vendors selling trinkets on tables and costumed street performers. Just off the park, with its pink-coated benches, bicycle, and lanterns, nearby Pink Street would make Barbie blush with pride; this narrow alley is actually a memorial to Bianca Franceschini, an Italian immigrant who championed Puerto Plata as a global tourism destination. Umbrella Street is another photogenic spot, where more than 170 kaleidoscopic umbrellas form a canopy overhead. Street performers, monkeys, and parrots add to the spectacle.
Gain an appreciation of the production process for local delicacies, including chocolate and rum. During visits to Del Oro Chocolate and Macorix House of Rum, you’ll learn how these delicacies are created and distributed during
Constructed in 1577 along the western side of the Malecón, a pedestrian-friendly oceanside pathway, Fortaleza San Felipe was originally built by the Spanish as a defense against pirate attacks. This early colonial structure served primarily as a prison for much of its history, and it is now a historical site open to the public. The entrance fee includes an audio guide, which offers more detailed information about the fort's past.
The Dominican Republic’s northern region is nicknamed the Amber Coast, due to the sizable deposits of honey-hue amber mined in Puerto Plata and nearby Santiago. See displays of some of the oldest and most impressive amber fossils in the world — including a lizard that’s millions of years old — at the Amber Museum, located within an opulent, mint-color Victorian house on Calle Duarte. Learn about the fascinating role amber has played in trade and have some hands-on fun: Watch how authentic amber becomes blue or green under a UV light. In the basement, see the life cycle of the Dominican cigar, from planting to packaging, during a tobacco tour. In the gift shop, pick up amber baubles and cigars.
FUN FACT: When Jurassic Park was in production, the movie asked to purchase the piece of Dominican amber containing the mosquito referenced in Michael Crichton’s story from the museum. (Yes, this plot point was based on fact!) Rather than sell the artifact, the museum traded it for unlimited logo rights and international usage and updated its logo to more closely resemble the movie’s.
Budget a full day for sightseeing and experiencing the city’s cultural riches. Most attractions are close together and can be experienced during a walking tour. If you’d prefer to ride in style, consider a tour with Puerto Plata Classic Cars and zip around the city’s notable landmarks in a cool vintage vehicle.
Get a Guided Tour of the City
From aboard his ship in 1492, Christopher Columbus saw Mount Isabel de Torres looming above the shoreline, shrouded by silver mist, and named the area Puerto Plata, or “Silver Port.”
With its prime placement along the country’s north coast, modern-day Puerto Plata is one of the country’s premier tourist destinations, made easily accessible via two cruise ports and a local airport serving the region. The area is a wonderland for water play, summoning kitesurfers and wakeboarders to its frothy waves, and respite-seeking travelers to beachside cabanas and catamarans. And beyond its pristine beaches, the city center pulses with energy, featuring live music, rum and chocolate tastings, museums, and color-splashed streets.

Puerto Plata Travel Snapshot
Visit a National Park
Chase Waterfalls

From aboard his ship in 1492, Christopher Columbus saw Mount Isabel de Torres looming above the shoreline, shrouded by silver mist, and named the area Puerto Plata, or “Silver Port.”
With its prime placement
along the country’s north coast, modern-day Puerto Plata is one
of the country’s premier tourist destinations, made easily accessible via two cruise ports and a local airport serving the region. The area is a wonderland for water play, summoning kitesurfers and wakeboarders
to its frothy waves, and respite-seeking travelers to beachside cabanas and catamarans. And beyond its pristine beaches, the city center pulses with energy, featuring live music, rum and chocolate tastings, museums,
and color-splashed streets.
You brought the sunscreen, hat, and bathing suit — now it’s time to find those sun-kissed beaches in the San Diego area. Kick back and bury your toes in the soft sand at Solana Beach’s Tide Beach, where you’ll also find serene tide pools beneath the dramatic bluffs. (Pro tip: Stick around until nightfall to watch the setting sun disappear beneath the lapping waves.) When you need sustenance, head over to Ocean Beach’s Mike’s Taco Club for one of its California burritos, a mouthwatering local staple filled with marinated steak, French fries, and other local fixings. For another dose of that fresh ocean breeze, hike one of the coastal trails at Cabrillo National Monument before touring the Old Point Loma Lighthouse, the installation that guided ships to shore in the late 1800s.

In fall, Steamboat Springs is a magnificent place to commune with nature. At Strawberry Park Hot Springs, crisp mountain air mingles with rising steam from the 104-degree thermal pools. For next-level bliss, pair your dip in the hot springs with a pampering massage. Deeper into the mountainous wilderness near Clark, a guided horseback ride with Steamboat Lake Outpost hearkens to the area’s cowpoke days. Marvel at the season’s bounty as your steed trots beneath the craggy peaks and vibrant aspens. Dinner presents yet another opportunity to witness Steamboat’s autumnal beauty. From the Aurum Food & Wine patio, look out across the Yampa River while savoring bison strip steak or Chilean seabass.
New Heights in Steamboat Springs, Colorado
A thriving tech hub like Seattle is the ideal place for an innovative getaway, with its gleaming downtown, checkout-free retailers, and bustling start-up culture. That taste of modernity even extends to its parkland. The Seattle Overlook Walk existed for years as an elevated freeway viaduct, but now it boasts about 60,000 square feet of communal space. The pathway, lined with native plants and concession stands for local small businesses, connects the waterfront to downtown’s popular Pike Place Market. If the market’s flying fish generate any hunger pangs, make your way to Atoma in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood. Tuck into the black cod with braised artichokes, or pork collar with charred apricot and fennel beneath the sage ceiling at this 2025 James Beard Awards finalist. Stroll through Seattle’s eclectic collection of art museums to witness contemporary brushstrokes and prints, or get a glimpse into what used to be the height of modernism at the Museum of Pop Culture, home to exhibits on science fiction, horror films, and video games.
The Modern Age in Seattle
Few places are as steeped in history as New Orleans, the birthplace of pivotal moments, unparalleled cuisine, and soulful music during the city’s three centuries. Stride past the French Quarter’s cast-iron balconies en route to Jackson Square, where you’ll find The Cabildo. More than 200 years ago, the Louisiana Purchase was finalized behind its Tuscan columns, and today the classical-style building houses a museum full of rare artifacts from Louisiana's early history. For a taste of the more recent past, hop on the St. Charles Avenue Streetcar and ride to the iconic Commander’s Palace for chef Meg Bickford’s classic Creole lunch: turtle soup, chargrilled pork tenderloin, and a Creole bread pudding soufflé. As night falls, make your way over to Frenchmen Street and let your ears guide you to the collection of clubs with overflowing jazz and blues notes.
Deep Roots in New Orleans
In the province of Alberta, the temperatures at Canada’s first national park top out in the 50s each fall, so pack a warm jacket before trekking through the cinematic wonderland of peaks, forests, and canyons. Pencil in Lake Louise at the top of your list. Marvel at the turquoise glacial water encircled by snowcapped mountains on the Lake Louise Lakeshore Trail, an easy 3-mile out-and-back hike with minimal elevation changes. Also be sure to explore the Bow Valley Parkway, which winds past natural spectacles like Johnston Canyon and Castle Mountain. The parkway is closed to most vehicles throughout September, so rent an e-bike from Banff Cycle + Sport for an open-air escapade you won’t soon forget.
Chill Out in Banff National Park, Canada
The arrival of fall doesn’t mean you have to surrender to cooler temperatures. The mercury hovers between 70 and 80 degrees near the dramatic rocky outcroppings at the tip of Baja California Sur. Board Cabo Adventures’ sailboat or catamaran for a voyage past the granite formations, including the famous Arch of Cabo San Lucas, and keep an eye out for wildlife like sea lions and dolphins. Back on land, wander the shops at Plaza Puerto Paraiso, then dine on Metate’s stone patio beneath shady trees adorned with string lights. The authentic flavors — wood-fire-grilled meats and house-made corn tortillas — and intricate cocktails earned the restaurant the Bib Gourmand designation from the Michelin Guide.
