Over the last six months (yes, we’ve been working on this since June), our editorial team has pored over the latest medical research and consulted leading doctors to discover where healthcare is heading next. And one thing has become very clear: 2024 is poised to be the year that women’s health concerns are (finally) taken more seriously by the medical system. At the same time, the biohacker movement will receive a much-needed dose of feminine energy, and we’ll all become open to hearing about ways to protect our ear health.
Gone are the days of glorifying fleeting trends. This year, we’re leaving “Wellness Trends” in the past and predicting the future of health for the long run. Welcome to mindbodygreen’s Well-Being Forecast. We have a proven track record of declaring major moments in well-being before they happen (head to the bottom of the page to see our previous predictions), so consider this your early access guide to optimizing your health in 2024 and well beyond.
Biohacking stops being a boy’s club
THE MEDICAL GENDER GAP CLOSES
LOUD NOISE BECOMES THE ENEMY
Women are the original biohackers. And in 2024, they’ll start optimizing their health in more targeted ways.

Past well-being forecasts
We’ve been sharing our health predictions for over a decade now. Peek through the below to see the ones we totally called (the psychedelics craze, the rise in hot-cold therapy, the backlash to BMI), were ahead of our time on (tinned fish, eco-anxiety), and are still waiting to happen (liquid plastics have really got to go).

Women experience adverse reactions
to drugs at twice the rate of men.
Yet they have historically been
left out of medical research.
Women are the original biohackers. Our hormones change throughout our lives, and this requires us to adapt accordingly.

Women have historically been left out of medical research—to sometimes deadly results. But we’ve reached a tipping point.
Noise-induced hearing loss is more common than ever, despite being totally preventable. It’s time to adjust our auditory diets.

Protein challenges diet culture
DAIRY GETS A PLACE AT THE TABLE
Protein will promote a mindset of more—more food, more muscle, more strength, more joy, and more healthy years.
After years of being villainized, dairy is back on the table in all of its full-fat, probiotic-rich glory. (Yes, cottage cheese is cool again.)
food forecast
For too long, diet culture has been about restricting, limiting, and narrowing what’s on your plate. Looking ahead, we’ll move towards a more welcoming approach to food—thanks in large part to an increasing awareness of the importance of protein. The focus is now on fueling ourselves for stronger bodies, not depriving ourselves for the sake of smaller ones. And foods that were previously demonized and booted off the table—like dairy—will be welcomed back with open arms and salivating mouths.
This year, TikTok and Instagram have flooded with recipes sporting upwards of 30, 40, to 50 grams of protein in a meal.
It’s not about what we have to
lose anymore. It’s the absolute opposite of fat shaming and
calorie restriction.

GROUP FITNESS ENTERS A NEW ERA
MOBILITY WORKOUTS SKYROCKET
In response to the loneliness epidemic, we’re predicting that fitness clubs will become the new social clubs—and everyone will be invited.
Last year, we said there would be a rise in strength training. Next, we’ll fold in mobility training for the sake of our future selves.
movement forecast
Exercise strengthens our hearts and builds our muscles. But it’s also a practice through which we can build community and forge deep, almost spiritual, bonds. In 2024, we’re predicting that how you move will be less important than who you move with. Workout culture will shift in a way that helps us connect with our neighbors and prepare us to keep up with future generations.
Living to 100 is now a truly attainable goal. Mobility training can help ensure you can keep up with loved ones in these later years.

SKIN LONGEVITY GOES MAINSTREAM
AGING NO LONGER STOPS AT THE SKIN
Expect longevity culture to infiltrate the beauty space and transform the way we approach skincare for the better.
It’s not just about wrinkles. In the year ahead, we’ll look beyond the skin to tackle additional causes of aesthetic aging.
Over the last few years, longevity research has shifted the way we care for our health. Now, it’s coming for our beauty routines. We’re waking up to the fact that our appearance naturally changes as we age—and this is not something to fight, but something to celebrate. In response, the beauty industry is dropping harsh anti-aging treatments in favor of ones that utilize the body’s natural regenerative systems, and emphasizing how to work with bone, muscle, and connective tissue to shape a face that is beautifully yours.
According to a report on “Advanced Aesthetics” from Longevity Technology, the future of longevity is not just about optimizing longevity
on the inside, but externally as well.
The beauty audience has become smarter and more discerning... They’re not just interested in ‘fixing’ aging problems, they want long-term solutions that will improve the look of the skin, without jeopardizing its integrity. Essentially: they want to look like themselves for as long as possible.

lifestyle forecast
Well-being isn’t just about what’s in your fridge or supplement cabinet. It extends to how you move through the world and care for those around you. In the lifestyle category, we’re predicting big shifts in how we tend to our gardens, care for our pets, and take vacations in 2024 and beyond. In the years ahead, we expect to see more people relaxing in biodiverse backyard landscapes and trekking on “walking retreats” abroad. And yes, Fido will totally be invited too (and he may be donning a fancy new fitness tracker).
In a recent Amex survey, 75% of respondents said they planned to cut back on screen time while traveling in an effort to better their mental health. Another 68% said they’d seek mental clarity by spending time in nature.

WELLNESS TRAVEL TAKES OFF
PETS BECOME LONGEVITY ICONS
GRASS IS NO LONGER GREENER
From elective MRIs to week-long walks, the travel industry is about to be more health-focused than ever before.
There’s a growing interest in tracking pet longevity…. because as it turns out, when dogs and cats live longer, humans might too.
The climate crisis is forcing gardeners to break up with grass lawns in favor of biodiverse habitats that are also more restorative for mental health.
