Nike MLB City Connect Series is a set of uniforms that dive deeper into a team’s connection with their city.
The Series represents an opportunity for Nike, the League, and the Royals to create lasting impact - through connection, cultural relevance, and engagement in Kansas City.
From functional to majestic to whimsical, fountains have always adorned our city. Originally built for travelers crossing the US as decorative drinking fountains - a gesture of hospitality, the welcoming culture and openness still remain in the city. Now they mean so much more.
Representative of life, truth, and change, the fountains have become one of the most iconic symbols of Kansas City embellishing our streets, flags, and now - our uniforms. The fountains are an iconic symbol of our culture.
The Navy and Powder Blue are representative of Kansas City’s deep baseball roots.
Navy was worn by the Monarchs, Blues, Bluestockings, Packers and the Athletics.
Powder, is representative of our own Royals history. When we played in the spotlight for the first time, when we wore our first crown, and when we had our first super star. Powder is a mainstay, representative of our own tradition.
How does this old, borrowed, and blue, push us into the era of new?
We not only want to move baseball forward… but also Kansas City. We want to inspire, innovate and celebrate the city we love. After all, we’re big-hearted, scrappy, and always down to host the party. So let’s bring the city together and inspire the next generation of ballers, to innovate and create a new way to experience the game, and celebrate our city.
Kansas City loves Kansas City, and we are here to represent.
