Our City Connect story:
we connect cities
DESIGN
Our City Connect uniform celebrates the origin story of the Rangers and the Texas spirit that brought Dallas and Fort Worth together in arlington. Through baseball.
Because it’s good to know where you come from.
tx logo
the peagle
4-21
Influenced by the Gothic lettering of the Dallas Eagles, our logo includes a spur as a tribute to the Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs. This team connected the two rival cities to play baseball in Arlington and paved the way for the Rangers.
A mythical creature inspired by blending the mascots of the Dallas Eagles and Fort Worth Panthers, created in the style of the Eagles.
At the heart of our origin story is the striking symmetry of April 21 – a vital date in the history of Texas, baseball in Texas, and the Texas Rangers.
dream the big dream
A SENTIMENT OF ARLINGTON MAYOR TOM VANDERGRIFF, WHOSE BOLD VISION AND TIRELESS EFFORTS TO BRING AN MLB TEAM TO THIS REGION HELPED TO CONNECT DALLAS AND FORT WORTH IN ARLINGTON.
This mark is an homage to the Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs, the Texas League team that played in Arlington and proved this region could support a Major League Baseball team.
dfw spurs
Inspired by the 1920 Championship medal won by the Fort Worth Panthers. In the 1920s, the Panthers won the Texas League title six years in a row and are regarded as one of the greatest teams in minor league history.
TYPOGRAPHY
The rope braid piping is a nod to the logo texture of the Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs.

spirit
Our origin story is one of optimism, resilience and passion –
the same steadfast spirit we see in our fans and on the field.
One date in Texas history reflects this spirit: April 21.
april 21, 1836
april 21, 1868
april 21, 1972
april 21, 2023
The day Texas gained independence and is
commemorated every year as San Jacinto Day.
THE FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP BASEBALL GAME IN TEXAS.
The first home game of the Texas Rangers.
The on-field debut of our City Connect uniforms.
WE DON’T WEAR THE NAME OF A CITY.
WE WEAR THE NAME OF A STATE WITH MORE THAN 1,200 CITIES.
SO HOW DO THE TEXAS RANGERS
DESIGN A CITY CONNECT UNIFORM?
START WITH THE TEXAS SPIRIT.
THE RESILIENT, FEARLESS, AND PROUD SPIRIT WHICH GAINED OUR STATE’S INDEPENDENCE ON APRIL 21, 1836.
THAT SPIRIT IS AT THE HEART OF OUR UNIFORM – AND OUR ORIGIN STORY.
WHICH TAKES US BACK TO THE 1950S,
WHEN THE YOUNG MAYOR OF ARLINGTON, TEXAS, HAD A BIG DREAM:
TO BRING A MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL TEAM TO HIS CITY.
AT THE TIME, ARLINGTON WAS A SMALL CITY
LOCATED BETWEEN TWO MAJOR CITIES:
DALLAS AND FORT WORTH.
BOTH WITH A RICH BASEBALL HISTORY.
YET ON AND OFF THE FIELD, DALLAS AND FORT WORTH WERE FIERCE RIVALS.
FOR DECADES, THEY COULDN’T AGREE ON A SHARED AIRPORT.
AND LONG BEFORE DFW AIRPORT FINALLY OPENED,
THE TWO CITIES CAME TOGETHER LIKE NEVER BEFORE.
TO PLAY BASEBALL IN ARLINGTON.
IN 1965, THE DALLAS-FORT WORTH SPURS WERE BORN.
THEIR HOME? ARLINGTON’S BRAND-NEW TURNPIKE STADIUM.
THE FANS CAME IN RECORD NUMBERS.
PROOF FOR ARLINGTON MAYOR TOM VANDERGRIFF
THAT HIS CITY AND THE REGION
COULD SUPPORT A MAJOR LEAGUE TEAM.
AND ON APRIL 21, 1972 . . .
EXACTLY 136 YEARS AFTER THAT VICTORY AT SAN JACINTO
EXACTLY 104 YEARS AFTER THE FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP BASEBALL GAME IN TEXAS
. . . THE MAYOR’S DREAM BECAME A REALITY.
THIS BALLPARK MADE ITS MAJOR LEAGUE DEBUT AS THE FIRST HOME OF THE
TEXAS RANGERS.
WHICH MEANS OUR TEAM THAT PROUDLY REPRESENTS
THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS
IS THE RESULT OF MAYOR VANDERGRIFF’S BOLD VISION THAT BROUGHT
DALLAS AND FORT WORTH TOGETHER
IN ARLINGTON.
THROUGH BASEBALL.
