A $1.6 billion redevelopment of General Motors Co.’s former headquarters complex, an iconic piece of Detroit’s skyline along the Detroit River. The proposal includes the demolition of two office towers, freeing up land for new park space along the water. The Marriott hotel tower, Michigan’s tallest building, would have its approximately 1,300 hotel rooms reduced to 858 rooms, with approximately 200 rental units on the top 20 floors replacing the lost rooms.
