Fostering Talent to Build the Future
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
A second cohort of students received the Mortenson Pathway Scholarship. Students that are scholarship recipients under this program are pursuing two-year degrees in Architectual Drafting and Design or Construction Management and will receive up to $30,000 over two years along with an internship and a path to full-time employment.

In 2024 we had 81 mentors, 8 ACE interns hired as full-time team members and $36,000 in scholarships awarded to future builders.
Through the ACE Mentor Program we introduce high school students to a variety of careers in design and construction and provide numerous annual 'externships' and scholarships. Increasing the awareness of this program is vital to continuing the impact that the ACE Mentor Program has on today’s high-schoolers and tomorrow’s leaders.

Mortenson worked with Opportunity Dekalb to launch a new Business Academy in DeKalb, Illinois, for low-income residents. The program assists business owners with business support so they can build a bright future for themselves and their families. Mortenson’s initial financial contribution to the program spurred adoption of the program and led to other major funding opportunities from area companies.

The program supports those with limited or no construction experience who are looking to build a new career. It consists of four weeks of classroom education facilitated by Awaken Foundation, followed by four weeks of in-the-field training. Upon completion of the eight-week paid training program, participants receive full-time gainful employment by Mortenson and trade partners across numerous trades including painting, roofing, electric, carpentry, sheet metal and laborers.
