History has its eyes on us this season, and we’re honoring the Rangers’ legacy with a season-long celebration! Join us at The World’s Most Famous Arena as we celebrate the biggest names, moments, and legacies from the past one hundred years. Each theme night will spotlight the historic individuals who have helped shape the New York Rangers franchise. Be here for some of this season’s biggest nights as we mark the Centennial season in true Blueshirt fashion.

CELEBRATE THE SEASON OF THE CENTURY

A new era of the NHL brings on a new era of Rangers hockey. The era started in 2005-06 as Jaromir Jagr set single-season franchise records for goals and points, Henrik Lundqvist made his NHL debut and captivated the hearts and minds of Rangers fans, and the stick salute tradition was born. The Rangers made the postseason 15 times in a 20-year period, which was highlighted by five trips to the Eastern Conference Final and a Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2014. The team would also play their first outdoor game and go on to a perfect 6-0 record in these NHL tentpole moments.

MODERN ERA

Throughout 100 years of Rangers hockey, the franchise has featured some of the best goaltending talents in hockey history. Whether it has been Vezina Trophy winners such as Dave Kerr, Gilles Villemure, and John Vanbiesbrouck, a Hart Trophy winner leading his team to the Stanley Cup Final the way Chuck Rayner did in 1950, franchise icons shining the way Eddie Giacomin, Mike Richter, and Henrik Lundqvist did, or Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick building on the tradition established by those before them, the story of the Rangers cannot be told without highlighting the men behind the mask...and those who defended the net without one.

GOALTENDERS

The team would bring in some of the best to ever play the game, producing some of the best individual seasons and team accomplishments in franchise history. This was highlighted when Mark Messier, Adam Graves, Brian Leetch and Mike Richter helped lead the way to win the Rangers’ Stanley Cup victory in 1994. Wayne Gretzky would also join the Rangers and play the final game of his career at The Garden.

LEGENDARY BLUESHIRTS

Highlighting the importance of Rangers fans – The Garden Faithful – for their support. Taking their feedback into account, this night will also include appearances from the players who earned the love and admiration of Rangers fans – some for their ability to score the key goal or make the clutch save, and others who got the crowd on their feet by sacrificing their body for the team.

FAN FAVORITES

The franchise underwent a rebirth during this period – a new MSG in the heart of Manhattan would be the team’s home, white jerseys would be worn on home ice, and television would bring Rangers hockey to more fans than ever before. Players captured the heart of New York more than ever before, such as the G-A-G Line of Vic Hadfield-Jean Ratelle-Rod Gilbert, Eddie Giacomin, Brad Park, Ron Greschner, and native New Yorker Nick Fotiu.

THE NEW GARDEN

The Rangers would begin building their status as a true New York team, providing a source of entertainment during the war. The franchise would also usher in their next wave of homegrown franchise legends during this time period, as players such as Harry Howell, Andy Bathgate, and Gump Worsley starred for the team during these years.

ORIGINAL SIX ERA

The Rangers played their first game on 11/16/1926, went on to win their first Stanley Cup in their 2nd season, and add two more in 1933 and 1940. During this time, the franchise established a reputation for being the “Classiest Team in Hockey”, thanks in large part to head coach and general manager, Lester Patrick, and the first great forward line in franchise history with brothers Bill and Bun Cook, as well as Frank Boucher.
