Continuing our pledge
to solve the most common workplace injury
Specifically, we pledge to:
In June 2022, NSC unveiled the groundbreaking MSD Pledge to spur a global employer-led movement to create safer workplaces and reduce musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) risk and injuries by 25% by 2025.
To date, more than 170 organizations – representing over 2.7 million employees across every major global continent – have joined this effort, committing to reducing MSDs, enhancing the physical and psychological wellbeing of workers, and saving costs on workers compensation, disability and absenteeism.
However, this was just the first step in our journey.
The MSD Pledge 2.0 is the next evolution of this industry-first call-to-action to transform workplace safety and empowers all organizations committed to safety progress to join NSC and our charter pledge members at the table in addressing workplace MSDs beyond 2025.
We are dedicated to ensuring the health and safety of all workers at our workplaces through the evaluation and reduction of musculoskeletal disorders, the leading cause of workplace injuries across all industries.
Build an organizational culture that values safety
We will promote and ensure a workplace where safety excellence, transparency and accurate reporting are equally valued. Everyone, at every level of our organization, is accountable for the safety and health of our workforce.
Commit to a significant reduction of MSD injuries
We believe that through risk analysis, improved training and investment we can create safer outcomes for millions of workers worldwide. We pledge to reduce MSD risks by an individualized percentage over the next five years after signing, based on organizational goals, resources and priorities.
Reduce risks
We will analyze the causes of MSD injuries across our operations and invest in solutions and practices that reduce risk to our workers.
Innovate and collaborate
We will leverage best practices and share our learnings and countermeasures to expand upon innovations to improve our own safety practices and reduce MSD risks.

Like the inaugural MSD Pledge, Pledge 2.0 calls on organizations to commit to reducing MSD risk for millions of workers worldwide by analyzing the causes of MSD injuries and investing in solutions, leveraging innovations to improve safety practices and building a culture of safety accountability.
While the MSD Pledge aims to collectively reduce workplace risk and injuries by 25% by 2025, Pledge 2.0 addresses MSDs beyond 2025 and allows organizations to set their own risk-reduction goal during the five years after signing.
