August 2022 was a big month for us. The first of six ships in the groundbreaking Prima Class, Norwegian Prima®, debuted to more than 2,500 guests in the beautiful Icelandic capital of Reykjavik. Against the dramatic landscape of Iceland, we got a chance to show off a ship that’s truly in a league all her own. Norwegian Prima is a ship of firsts and unique onboard experiences like the fastest slides at sea, the first three-level racetrack at sea, a multimillion-dollar sculpture garden and Infinity Beach, featuring infinity pools looking out over the ocean. It’s only fitting that she’d be the first to be christened in Reykjavik, too. Guests at the christening ceremony were treated to a show-stopping performance by popular Icelandic group and 2021 Eurovision fan favorites, Daði og Gagnamagnið (pronounced "Dah-they Oh Gack-no-Mak-ne"), before Norwegian Prima's very own godmother, Katy Perry, took to the main stage to officially christen the vessel with the ceremonial champagne bottle break across the ship's hull. The three-level Prima Theater & Club stage was then transformed into a whimsical backdrop where guests enjoyed a powerhouse performance of some of Katy Perry’s biggest hits. See what we love about Norwegian Prima and book a 2023 cruise to the Mediterranean, The Caribbean, Northern Europe and more on this incredible new ship. Checking out Norwegian Prima for yourself soon? Don’t forget to post your pictures with #NorwegianPrima and you might see your vacation shots featured in the next edition of this newsletter. Tell us about your very first Norwegian cruise — when was it, where did you go?
My very first cruise with Norwegian was in July 2006. It was a beautiful cruise to the Western Caribbean. Costa Maya and Cozumel were two of my favorite ports on this itinerary. This cruise was what truly made me fall in love with cruising with Norwegian.
Since then, I have taken more than 60 Norwegian cruises with just about 900 days at sea!
How many NCL cruises have you taken since then?
I love cruising with my mother and father, but I also love to bring along my cousins, friends, aunts, uncles, as well as my two young nieces and nephews (ages 5 and 3). Who knows... maybe they’ll be the youngest Ambassadors one day!
Who do you usually cruise with?
My all-time favorite cruise memory would have to be when I was able to sail with my niece, Cella. She’s now 5 and just completed her third Norwegian cruise and has already said she wants to live on board! It must run in the family.
What is your favorite cruise memory?
My overall favorite cruise was just recently in July/August 2022 on Norwegian Star. We cruised for 30 days around Northern Europe, starting and ending in Reykjavik, Iceland, visiting various other ports in Iceland, Greenland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Norway and Scotland. It was the trip of a lifetime and my bucket-list trip. I am so glad I was able to experience this beauty with my family. A very close runner-up would be the 26-day cruise we just completed on the Norwegian Spirit, visiting French Polynesia and Hawai’i. I mean, WOW. Incredible destinations.
What has been your favorite overall cruise?
I love the various perks that we receive when reaching Ambassador Level. As an Ambassador, we get discounts on Shore Excursions, gift shops and more. We also are gifted two specialty dinners on each cruise! Of course, the biggest perk of this level is the Free Cruise. I just recently took mine on the Norwegian Escape.
What do you love most about being a Latitudes Member?
Definitely! I just completed my 19th cruise of 2022 on the Norwegian Escape in January. I currently have two future cruises booked, and I'm sure there will be more. I'm very much looking forward to continuing to explore the world with Norwegian.
Do you have another cruise planned in the future?
I went on one of my bucket-list cruises this year, but next would be to visit the beautiful Geiranger Fjord in Norway. The scenery is breathtaking, and I really hope to take Norwegian Prima to this destination in the not-so-distant future.
What would be your “bucket list” cruise destination?
The funniest thing that has ever happened to me on a cruise was when I left all of my shoes at an airport. I was so happy to be boarding the ship that, in the rush to get to the port to start my cruise on Norwegian Getaway in 2014, I left my shoe bag going around and around on the luggage carousel. The best part is, Norwegian took this very seriously and did all the communicating with the airline and somehow got my bag for me in St. Thomas. They even delivered it directly to my cabin. That definitely taught me to never put all my eggs in one basket — or one suitcase!
What is the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you on a cruise?
My top tip for someone who has never cruised before would be to get involved. Make sure to get out and explore the ship and meet new people. My favorite activity is to chat and make friends with other cruisers. Relaxing on board is great, but the ships have so much to offer that I highly recommend taking advantage of all of it. I have met some amazing lifelong friends on cruises.
What would be your “top tip” or advice for someone who has never cruised before?

Longdy Chen, Assistant Financial Accountant
I have been working with NCL for about 8 years.
How long have you been working with NCL?
I enjoy most working on the ship because I get to travel to see many different countries, make new friends, try many kinds of food and exchange our culture and lifestyle while on board.
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
Skagway, Alaska. Even though I am not on that itinerary at the moment, it’s my favorite one. My travel secret is when you go to Skagway, Alaska please don’t hesitate to go see the glacier. One of the most incredible experiences I had was flying in a helicopter for an hour and a half over the beautiful mountains to the glacier. I really recommend it to any crew or guests.
Do you have a favorite port you’ve visited?
I am from Cambodia — the only Cambodian on our ships!
Where are you from?
I am currently on Norwegian Pearl, and I love the great food from Moderno. The servers are very nice and friendly; they keep feeding us till we say, “No more, please!” I also enjoy getting a drink from Spinnaker Lounge. There’s nice, romantic music or sometimes I can catch a show while relaxing with a glass of red wine.
What’s your favorite spot on board?
I have been working with NCL about 5 years.
I enjoy going to different countries and exploring the world.
What do you love most about working for NCL?
Bermuda, especially on an itinerary where you can stay overnight. There’s no need to hurry back when you go out, and you can spend as much time exploring as you want.
Favorite cruise destination?
NCL recently hosted a dinner for crew members aboard BLISS who've worked on NCL ships for over 25 years

Norwegia Prima is a ship of firsts and unique on-board experiences like the fastest slides at sea, the first three level racetrack at sea, a multi-million-dollar sculpture garden and Infinity Beach, featuring infinity pools looking out over the ocean. It’s only fitting that she’d be the first to be christened in Reykjavik, too. Guests at the christening ceremony were treated to a show-stopping performance by popular Icelandic group and 2021 Eurovision fan favorites, Daði og Gagnamagnið (pronounced "Dah-they Oh Gack-no-Mak-ne"), before Norwegian Prima's very own godmother, Katy Perry took to the main stage to officially name christen the vessel
with the ceremonial champagne bottle break across the ship's hull. The three-level Prima Theater & Club stage was then transformed into a whimsical backdrop where guests enjoyed a powerhouse performance of some of Katy Perry’s biggest hits.
See what we love about Norwgian Prima and book a 2023 cruise to the Mediterranean, The Caribbean, Northern Europe and more on this incredible new ship. Checking out Norwegian Prima for yourself soon?
