Our Commitment to
sustainability
At Contigo®, we're working towards a better, brighter tomorrow. How? By creating smarter and more responsible drinkware that'll have an impact today.
Reuse, Not Single-Use
Each year, Americans purchase 50 billion single-use water bottles¹ resulting in unnecessary
learning and doing
The first step to making an impact? Being willing to grow. Creating reusable water bottles already helps our consumers live more responsibly, but we know we can do more. Here are just a few of the ways we're answering the call from the global community to invest in the environment.
Current Actions:
• Transitioned product packaging from plastic stickers to paper wraps across North American new product portfolio (2022)
• Transitioned use & care information from inserts onto packaging for North American new adult thermal and hydration product portfolio (2022)
• How2Recycle labels add to all new North American packaging (2022)
• Products and packaging continually reassessed for redesign opportunities to reduce excess material including plastic, stainless steel, and paper components
• 100% of lids and 70% of bottle bodies are dishwasher safe (allows dishwashing, which is shown to be more efficient than handwashing²)
• All vendors and suppliers are required to adhere to our Vendor Code of Conduct (establishes environmental standards we expect of our suppliers)
Future Goals:
• All new North American product packing made using FSC certified paper starting 2023
• Achieve carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 emissions across Newell Brands owned or managed distribution, warehousing, storage, and office sites by 2040
Global Efforts
• Rolled out FSC certified paper for European product packaging (2021)
• Launching in Europe in 2023, new reusable water bottles made with 50% certified recycled content from waste plastic
