LIFE has been super hectic for me recently, from filming money saving specials to sorting the school run – so flying away for fun in the sun was a total lifesaver.
Even so, it was a really busy run-up to that magic moment when my husband Adam and I finally took off with our kids Brody, 13, and Bronte, 7, for Morocco.
SAVE ON SUNSHINE
And it’s brilliant to think that you can get this for your kids for free with Jet2holidays as they offer so many Free Child Place holidays.**
Since we were doing all-inclusive, snacks and drinks throughout the day were covered too.
This not only makes a real difference to your budget but it also allows you to kick back and not have to worry about spending.
In the evening we had dinner in the lovely buffet restaurant and there was loads of choice: tasty fish dishes, fresh pasta, salads and more. I couldn’t fault it. The kids’ menu was great too.
One night we ate in the resort’s à la carte restaurant Fes, which served upmarket traditional local cuisine.
It felt really special with table service and fabulous food, and with Jet2holidays the whole experience was included in the holiday price.
Such incredible value for money for the high quality of this holiday.
We had entertainment every evening and it was great fun: we’d all drink mocktails, then enjoy a boogie.
The famous Marrakech medina was easy to get to and explore, thanks to the hotel’s free shuttle service.

A Jet2 Morocco break is the perfect family
holiday for budget guru Gemma Bird
Gemma Bird
After our breakfast we explored the resort and all its facilities.
There were lush gardens, and one of the three outdoor pools was heated, which was a bonus as it was early in the season and could have been a bit chilly.
The upside of going early is that it saves money as it tends to cost less – Jet2holidays have loads of great value resorts in terrific destinations to choose from.
Morocco is a superb choice and booking an out-of-season break in October or November, or March or April, makes total sense – the weather is still good and you tend to get fewer crowds, and lower prices for flights and resorts.
Eden Andalou is big but designed to make you feel you’re in a pretty little village, with lots of traditional Moroccan ochre walls and areas to sunbathe and chill.
The hotel is next to a massive waterpark, and we had unlimited access to it during our all-inclusive holiday.
The kids were in the water all the time as they’re water babies, so Adam and I could relax while they had fun.
The waterpark featured brilliant slides that Brody and Bronte went on again and again.
It’s so nice to go somewhere where the children enjoy themselves and are safe within the resort, so you can get some me-time – the holy grail for parents!
You get a generous 22kg baggage and 10kg hand luggage included per person with Jet2holidays, so there was plenty of space for all our stuff, and everything we needed to hand on the flight itself.
We even had spare luggage space left over – which was great in case we bought some bargains at the souks, and we’d have plenty of room to bring them back!
Me being me, I’d brought some sarnies and drinks so we could have something to eat before we boarded: I hate paying out for food at the airport – it’s just a waste of cash when I can bring my own.
LOVE THAT LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE
CLAIM FREE CHILD PLACES
The area is a real adventure with so many little souks and treasures to find – I just enjoyed having a good nose around and soaking up the vibes.
There were lots of very reasonably priced trips and activities on offer.
We could have gone to the Atlas Mountains, for instance, but with so much to do in the resort we didn’t feel we needed to head out.
The kids’ club offered all kinds of activities from painting to archery – and they did a pizza-making session, which Brody and Bronte adored.
They had a great time rolling out the dough and choosing toppings while Adam and I watched – that was lovely. And they enjoyed eating them up afterwards!
The Eden Andalou put on Zumba most days and water aerobics in the mornings, and there was a fantastic spa. Adam and I treated ourselves to a massage there.
The week flew by and before we knew it, we were packing for home.
On our last night it was karaoke. Brody sang a song in Spanish and he had everyone in fits! It was so funny and a great way to end the trip.
Tile style … the resort’s design is traditional chic
The Mayfair Hotel Family-friendly fun awaits just a short walk away from the centre of this lively resort. It’s close to the beach and features several pools, plus an onsite splash park. And there are kids’ clubs, evening entertainment and bars for the grown-ups.
Long Beach Hotel You’ll be spoilt for choice not only by the bars and restaurants, but also by your pick of the villas, suites and family rooms. Plus get unlimited access to the Long Beach waterpark and funfair, offering thrilling slides and fairground favourites.

On the plane the cabin crew were brilliant. We ordered some snacks, which were very tasty, and spent the flight chatting about the holiday. And then we were there!
Our transfer was quick and within half an hour we arrived at the 4-star Eden Andalou Aquapark & Spa.
We were blown away. The reception was huge, airy and elegant, and we were welcomed with smiles and refreshing mint tea.
The staff took our bags to our accommodation for the week, which was a really spacious family room.
Outside we had a lovely private patio that led on to the gorgeous tropical-style gardens – I stood there, breathed in and felt all the stress melt away.
Next morning I made a fresh coffee and sat on the patio for a few moments to myself. Bliss.
I spent a fair amount of time chilling on that patio during the week, I can tell you!
Between making podcasts for The Sun’s popular No Parental Guidance series and managing the usual whirlwind schedule that comes with a household of four, there weren’t a lot of chances to spend quality time together as a family.
Luckily our week in Marrakech on a Jet2holidays break was a brilliant way to reconnect and make some happy memories.
We drove to London Stansted airport and check-in was a doddle – the efficient and friendly Jet2holidays customer helpers were waiting to direct us.
The lady we met was so lovely, chatting away to Bronte and making her laugh. The whole thing was stress free.
GET VALUE FOR MONEY
The holiday was a beautiful way to spend time as a family: we were well looked after, every day felt relaxed, and the resort was child friendly and safe – huge pluses when you’re going away with kids.
As for the money side of things, booking the break with just a £60 deposit†† and being able to pay in monthly instalments is very handy.
I’m so bargain-brained, and my career is being savvy with spending, so I know this was a quality, value-for-money break, a perfect pick-me-up for us.
